I am using this on a covered deck. I put gravel in the bottom for drainage and planted directly in the pot. It may start to rust some in a few years, but that's okay. Of course I had to plant some hens and chickens in it! I put in some lemon balm andsweet alysum to finish it off.

I gave this as a gift for a friend who loves chickens. It’s a great size and perfect for a planter which is what she uses it for. It doesn’t have any holes on the bottom so she’s able to keep it on her countertops. It would probably work best to have a planter inside to reduce any risk of corrosion in the future but you could also just add the soil and plant straight into the product.

Got this for my office. It’s nice and big, but I had a hard time finding something to line it with so it could hold a plant on my wooden cabinet. I used the bottom of a water jug. Unfortunately my plant died already, so now it just sits there empty and cute.

I love this chicken! Being metal, I expect it will last a long time. I will set small potted plants in mine, but I can imagine using it inside in other capacities, such as for mail, cards, utensils, keys, small flower vases with daisies… it would look good atop a bookshelf or within a hutch. So fun and cheerful.
