I got these whistles because hitting a dear at night can be a really tramatic experience (ask me how I know...) In winter in my city, the deer are plentiful and, unfortunately, seem to be attracted to 3k+ hunks of metal moving at a high rate of speed.These whistles were easy to apply. The adhesive sticks great and I had not problem fitting them on unnoticeable part of my car. I have not been able to test them thoroughly yet, as deer season is just beginning but I will update my review as I drive more through coming months.

Lots of people disagree about the effectiveness of deer whistles as critter stoppers. I have driven for thirty years in rural Northeast and have not yet hit a deer (knock on wood) yet. I believe in using multiple deer whistles of different sizes, and usually have around six all across my front bumper. These deer whistles are larger than most modern whistles, and probably get a different frequency going than the smaller ones, which is just what I want. The key to understanding the usefulness of deer whistles is two fold: one, they don't really work at less than thirty or thirty five miles an hour, so you have to be extra vigilant at slower speeds. Two, whenever you see one deer, it is really like that more deer are close, so don't keep driving just because you missed the one deer. The rest of the family could be following and be crossing the road shortly. At higher speeds the deer whistles will alert the deer, but curvy roads will cut down on the lead time of alerting the deer to your prescence, so don't drive faster than your headlights as allow you to see the road and creatures on it. Deer whistles just give you an additional advantage to help prevent collisions but it is still incumbent upon you to operate your vehicle safely for the conditions, especially at dawn and dusk.
