This poweredge server makes a great desktop box. Add 8GB of ECC memory and a copy of Windows 10 and you have a kick-butt desktop system that is built to last and will outperform most big-box super deal systems. If you are looking for a system as a workhorse for many processor intensive tasks the Xenon is known for its abilities to do just that. The motherboard and case offer plenty of room for expansion. It only comes with a 290W power supply so you will be limited if you want to add high end graphics cards. I was able to locate a replacement here on Amazon that was 500W and still fit in the space provided. As I recall it was a Rosewill non-modular 500W.. and I was able to run a OK gaming card. AS is, you can run 2 displayport monitors with no issue. Its a heck of a deal on a great box with impressive spec's and its NEW and under warranty :-)

-Basically silent, good for a basic home server, low power draw.-Has an NVMe slot, but has limitations and was disabled in later BIOS versions.-SATA port labeling is annoying.-Has no externally accessible bays, even though they could have made it that way.-Space for many more internal drives, but no simple way to add them.- Tons of USB 3.0 ports.- No VGA or DVI, just DP and HDMI.

This was purchased to run a AD DC and file server for a small business that was using a NAS for their needs. The included drive, although a good quality Seagate, was replaced with a few SSDs and put into RAID using Intel RST. For the overall price spent, the small business I installed this for was very impressed with the performance. With a few inexpensive upgrades, this tower would also make a very functional home desktop as well.

Stay away from Dell Computers, period. Cheap Toshiba Hard Drive bad out of the box. This is one of the few Dells I bought in my line of work over the years and the experience is always the same, BAD.Purchased from Amazon less than a year ago as new, so naturally I think it still has a year of warranty. Could not be more wrong. Dell said it's out of warranty and to call Amazon for warranty. After talking to 4 people in different departments was told by some dude in India to go ahead and call Amazon for warranty since according to them it's expired and Amazon sold it to me. Shouldn't Dell honor the warranty since they made the product?I pulled the drive and replaced it with couple of SSDs and shelved the drive for future use. Now I went to use it and it has lots of bad sectors, so it's useless. Only Dell puts these cheap desktop drives in their so called entry servers. I have lots of Lenovos and HPs out there and all came with business grade hard drives or with none at all.Shame on you Dell, Amazon and whoever else is involved in this type of business.

I am currently dual booting, and am running both Debian 9 and Windows 10. All the drivers worked fine with Debian. If you are looking for Windows 10 drivers, just download DriverMax and let it find the proper drivers for you. The internet didn’t work when I installed Windows 7 or 8. However, the internet did work out of the box when I installed Windows 10. I love this computer, and it's very easy to fit 6 hard drives. You just turn on this computer, press F12, and you are ready to select which hard drives to boot in order, and you also get the menus to boot from a USB or DVD to install an operating system. This computer is perfect for developing, virtual machines, and running your server.

I bought this server before Christmas and finally set it up today. It was running very slow so I tested the HDD and its bad! Good job Seagate. What even worse is this is Seagate's corporate drive line. How terrible.

I bought this unit but it keeps shutting off by itself. I looked at the configuration and all look ok. I still have figured out why it shuts off. Wanted to buy a second one but now I'm doubting if it's worth it

Worked fine for our remote office. Has plenty of CPU power (quad core Xeon has lots of oomph). Easy to work in, at least in terms of adding additional drives and upgrading RAM.No real cons to mention. The only oddity I found was the HDD's get mounted upside down in the trays. Has zero performance impact, and it looks weird to me, but that's it.
