Your cart is empty.Delphi's mechanical fuel pumps, which work with older-model carbureted systems, deliver fuel flow to the engine. It sits at the front-lower portion of the motor and the pumps are lever-operated. An internal diaphragm draws fuel from the tank through lines running the length of the vehicle and pushes the fuel into the carburetor.

Don't be fooled by the respected "Delphi" brand name. These are not the rebuildable pumps that used to come standard with new American cars. These are from China, and they are crimped together, so if they break you have to throw them away. You'll probably want to do that anyway to keep from getting stranded. I bought two of these... one was sold as a Delphi and the other a Carter but they all appear to be made in the same Chinese factory and both failed within a day of installation. I'm not the only one with this problem as it's well known in the classic car hobby that the aftermarket mechanical fuel pumps are junk these days. You have to spend $230 for a McRobb Performance pump to get something of the quality that came with your classic car 50 years ago.

worked until it didn't a week later sub zero weather without the wind on the side of the road at night.... i have had more than one of them go bad at a bad time. .... don't waste your money.... buy a carter ..... or buy delphi and keep a little inline electric pump under the seat and use it to get ya home....

Mounted this on a 1979 CJ5 with a AMC 1975 304 motor, it never really delivered the gas flow it should have, motor was stalling constantly. It was starving for gas. This jeep is only used for plowing snow and it didn't have 10 miles on it before the fuel pump started leaking around the casting and diaphragm seam. A complete waste of my time and money.

Cheaper than a rebuild kit, seems like great quality. Definitely fixed fuel flow and pressure to my new carb. 1974, CJ5 with AMC 304 engine.
