Delphi's mechanical fuel pumps, which work with older-model carbureted systems, deliver fuel flow to the engine. It sits at the front-lower portion of the motor and the pumps are lever-operated. An internal diaphragm draws fuel from the tank through lines running the length of the vehicle and pushes the fuel into the carburetor.

Will not fit a 1951 Chevy with the inline 216 engine. The lever is .30 of an inch in and would not make contact with the cam lobe. Glad I measured this one before attempting to install. One more brand to try before going to an electric pump set up
