Must consistently inspect. I have had a set of these on our Kar Kaddy tow dolly for roughly 2-3 months with about 2k miles tow time and parts randomly came undone on both the left and right sides. About two weeks ago, the ratcheting pawl for the passenger side came unscrewed on the highway and fell off. It stayed locked but once I released it, I couldnt retighten again. Also, just today, the drivers side spring that holds the locking pawl randomly came undone and popped off into oblivion. I would think that at $80 a piece Id have more piece of mind than this.

This winch works very well as a replacement. The stamped steel plate edges are sharp enough to shave off surface skin. So watch out for your knuckles. I will dismount my winch this coming spring to file or grind the edges than I'll reinstall it.
