These are the exact length of shorts I was looking for. The material is comfortable and kind of stretchy. But … the waistband is much lower than I’m used to and would like. I feel like it makes my mom pooch stick out way further than it normally does. So much so that it makes me not like wearing the shirts. But if you have a perfectly flat stomach then I’m sure these shorts would be great for you.

These shorts arrived quickly and are comfortable. They are a bit long, but you can roll/cuff them up to the desired length. They have stretchy material around the waist, so they are easy to put on and take off along with being comfortable while wearing them. They are attractive and well made. I love these shorts and wear them all the time.

I cannot recall ever being so excited about shorts! These “pedal pushers” have it all going on: super-comfortable and perfect fit, right amount of stretch, just -right fit at waist, hips, legs, love the length. I got the light beige/ taupe color, and white. I am 5’6”, weight 118, straight hips. Wearing them every days!

For reference, I am 5’6 135-140 lbs and typically wear an 8-10 or medium. I ordered a 10 and 8, too big, and ended up in a size 6. They fit snug but not uncomfortable, perfect fit. These bermudas hit just below the knee when not rolled. They are not a high waist but not low rise either, they hit just below my belly button so I don’t see that pooch I hate. They have some stretch, not stiff like jeans. Love them.

These "shorts" are very well made and fit just like my Democracy jeans in a size 6, that I love (for reference, I am 5'5', 145 lbs). The only slightly negative is that they are a bit longer than expected; they go just below my knee, and unlike the pictures they do not look good rolled up. I haven't decided if I will get them hemmed or not. They are an interesting length; inbetween long shorts and capris, which maybe in not a bad thing? Most capris, which typically hit mid calf and are not very flattering, so I do like just below the knee better. So I will keep these. I love they way they fit in the waist, very forgiving if you gain or lose a few pounds, or eat a big lunch!

These are the most comfortable shorts I own! They are soft enough to not cut into me anywhere and the stretch makes them look perfect regardless of whether I'm having a puffy day or a thin day. Nice dark dye that doesn't run all over my other clothes when I wash these, they look neat and tidy and not sloppy. I wear a size 10 and that's what I ordered - couldn't be happier with these!

Nice, heavy cotton. Comfortable attractive cut. 12 1/2" inseam w/ cuff reaches just over the top of my knee - just the length I wanted. (5'-9" height) Long enough, substantial enough to feel suitably dressed for running around town or a late afternoon summer gathering. Sturdy enough for chores.The mesh liner doesn't improve my figure in any way (unlike some reviewers), but it seems to help the shorts maintain their fit and shape. Maybe I should have ordered a size down, the same way one does when ordering NYDJ pants. But I like the slightly loose yet not baggy fit of these shorts in my usual size.To answer the question about the elastic mesh, for which I received contradictory answers before ordering, the mesh is the inner most layer - across the top of the abdomen and lining the inside of the waistband. In other words, if you don't tuck in a shirt or wear very large underwear :->, the mesh will be in contact with your skin. Since I do have a contact sensitivity, I find that tucking in a longer, light cotton camisole eliminates the itching caused by the mesh.Another option would be NYDJ shorts instead, where the elastic layer is encased in other fabrics. But I prefer the drape of the fabric and the longer inseam in the Democracy shorts to the NYDJ 11" inseam and fabric.

I love Democracy Shorts. They fit me perfectly. I bought a size 10 and feel great in them. You don’t need to look any further for great shorts. I highly recommend Democracy for great overall shorts!!!!

Democracy jeans, whether shorts, capri or regular length all fit perfectly. I can order the same size every time and they fit the same. They are the most comfortable jean I have ever purchased.

Fabric is great. There's a little stretch in the Jean fabric making them super comfy! I love the length and they wash great.
