Your cart is empty.Flintlock pistols were so called because the lock uses a flint to strike sparks into the priming pan when the trigger is pulled. A small amount of gunpowder in this pan is ignited, which in turn ignites the main gunpowder charge in the barrel, firing the lead ball. Both the main charge and the ball were loaded from the front, or muzzle, of the barrel, after which the priming charge was poured into the pan ? all very time consuming! Often the priming charge would burn but fail to ignite the main charge ? hence the expression flash in the pan! The original of this particular flintlock pistol was made by Lorenzi in Italy in about 1680 and the engraved coat of arms is that of the famous Medici family. This non-firing version is accurately detailed - a great costume or conversation piece.

I had some doubts when I made the purchase and started to regret it afterward. I actually tried to cancel the order a few hours later but was unable to because they'd shipped it so fast.It arrived 3 1/2 days later in immaculate condition. As I opened the box, I kinda thought it wasn't packaged very well. No bubble wrap? Don't get me wrong, it was secure, I just assumed for $80 plus they'd pamper it a bit more.And then, I took it out and understood how hearty, heavy, and well made this item is. The delivery driver needs bubble wrap, not the pistol. This thing isn't fragile. It's probably more durable than the original.Tough lines. Strong craftsmanship. Made to last. Good piece.I don't know how historically accurate it is ,but it's beautiful. Everyone who's walked in my office is immediately drawn to it and can't help but pick it up to admire it.It's currently laid out on a bookshelf for all to see. I want to mount it on the wall ,but it might actually be too heavy for that. I'll need to do it just right for office drywall.I'm glad they couldn't cancel my order ,but I do still have a regret...I should've bought it sooner. I highly endorse this item. Pull the trigger!

Very nice gun but after a few pulls of the trigger, the frizzen broke off at the hinge. I might attempt to repair it the future but it's obviously a weakpoint in the design. Some screws are not as flush as they could be, which is apparent at the point where the trigger guard connects to the grip, you will feel the sharp edges of the screw in your hand. Again, another thing that can be fixed. Kind of disappointed that the ram rod isn't really long as it should be and the barrel is only 3 or so inches deep.For a costume or desk piece, it is absolutely fine.

Extremely pleased with the quality of this replica. Heavy wood and metal construction looks and feels outstanding! One very minor complaint is the trigger guard screw was not fully flush with the metal. I suppose one could scratch themselves, possibly. Not enough to lose a star. I love it!
