We really love this piece. Bought it last May and finally set it up now with our Halloween village. We knew the head rotated, which is very cool, but the best part perhaps is that it projects the jack-o-lantern face on to the wall behind our display! Be sure to place it in a way where you can really enjoy that effect. We keep our room dark and just watch and watch it!I hope it lasts as we've read reviews that it may not. But we'll be very careful. Great addition!!

Actually bought two of these and gave them as gifts to my daughters. They are both quite pleased. Five stars for quality but four stars for the price.

The first time I plugged this item in it worked fine with the head spinning and everything lit. The second time I plugged it in there was a popping sound and that was the end of the light in the head. There doesn't seem to be a way to replace it myself. The head still spins, but this building is nowhere near as fun without the main light. Looking at other reviews this doesn't appear to be an isolated problem. Very expensive building as well so I advise anyone looking to get this to do some research on it first.

This piece was a little expensive but we bought it based on the online reviews that said it was a unique design and the rotating lighted pumpkin casts a spooky shadow. This is true. It really is pretty cool. Unfortunately, the structural design is not nearly as good as the aesthetics. Within a minute of the initial operation out of the box, the light for the rotating pumpkin went out. A brief look inside reveled a complex nest of wiring and there certainly seems to be no way to access or replace the light. It was out of commission for Halloween and we now have to ship the unit to Department 56 under warranty for repair or replacement.

I fell in love with Dept 56 Halloween Village houses and figures. I have several houses and dozens of figures and accessories. I plugged in the Fright Night and within 5 minutes the main light inside the Jack O lantern stopped working. I am extremely disappointed as it was a rather pricey item. Another piece I bought stopped working after a year, the Swinging Ghoulies..it no longer spins. I’d recommend steering clear of motion items in the collection as they aren’t easy to repair on your own if at all.
