I have installed 3 of these units and all have failed. One never worked, the other two failed within a short time. All were wired correctly (I have a Hot Rod Shop and know what I'm doing). The temp setting is really touchy, but does work, but not by the degrees the instructions say.Failure is that when ignition is turned on, the fan comes on, but will not shut off when ignition is turned off. This when the engine is COLD so it's not the temp setting turning turning it on automatically. I contacted Derale's tech and they said yes, that was a failure. Would NOT recommend to any of my customers.

I was assured that when purchased the hot rod radiator and elc. Fan with shroud that I needed the derale #16778 controller to keep my new crate 350 ci. Running cool as a cucumber! ( NOT THE CASE) the fan came on once and never came again almost causing engine melt down.hopefully the toasted water pump is the only thing I have to replace!.I tried to adjust the temp screw didn't make any difference. I agree don't waste your money on this controller.

The fan never came on due to temperature. The adjustment was turned in either direction with no change. The fan did turn on when the AC was turned on so it isn't a wiring problem.

when i installed this the other day it does turn on the fan but it turns it on the same time the ignition comes on, the so called temperature adjustment does nothing, the screw keeps turning but the temperature does not adjust with it. would not waste money on again, just buy a MUCH cheaper high amp relay and use that instead
