After many grueling hours removing the original rack and pinion from my heavily worked 4WD Explorer with high miles I ordered a rebuilt replacement with tie rod ends to get the work done as a snowstorm was forecast and needed the truck for plowing. The replacement unit was received in a decent timely fashion so as soon as I had available time I installed the unit fully along with the new tie rod ends. I filled the steering reservoir up to capacity and noticed a slight dripping coming down below where the rack meets the steering column. I thought at first maybe I spilled a bit of fluid onto the area as the reservoir sits just above the steering knuckle. I started up the truck and fluid sprayed all over the undercarriage due to pressure now going thru the lines. I observed the fluid spraying out of the rack at the column area and immediately contacted the company via email as this was the only means of communication with them to start. I received an email back the next day asking for me to call to discuss the matter. I made the call on a Saturday and there was a person accepting calls and I explained the whole situation of what happened. The person said they would get the unit out to me on the next shipment out. Instead I was recontacted via email to call the company again. I did this and went through the same explanation as to what happened trying to get an answer to resolve the matter. I was now asked if I had returned the core and rebuilt unit but there was no way I could do this as the vehicle may have been needed to be moved out of the garage for access to another vehicle and wanted to be sure I could still move the vehicle for this purpose. Response now was I would have to pay an additional core deposit along with $35 shipping cost for their improperly built unit to be sent to me. I agreed to this only to expedite the matter and did receive the replacement within a few days later. The replacement rack I installed did work properly but my big question is why wasn't the 1st rebuild pressure tested and now why am I subjected to the extra shipping fees. I do understand I will receive the core deposit back but none of this was to my fault and it required a lot of my own valuable time that I could have accomplished other important matters.I will admit everyone I spoke to was polite and courteous but I hope this does not happen to anyone else out there!

Part came sealed in plastic to protect all parts which is great idea. Assembley was a breeze. Just ordered front wheel bearing from the same company. Will pass the information onto all my friends.
