Yes, you can cut Hardie Plank with a general purpose wood blade, but they sure don't last long. And, yes, these blades are expensive compared to general purpose wood blade. But, they sure do cut the edges nice and clean.

First to last cut for an entire garage was smooth, true and quick. Will last many jobs - definitely worth the price.

I purchased this blade for a exterior cement board installation. We have used almost a pallet of cement board trim without the blade getting dull. The blade makes precise and clean cuts if used at a reasonable cutting rate. Because this blade only has a few teeth it is important that you slow down your cut so that you don’t overload the saw. If you try to cut too quickly it will not make a clean cut. The amount of dust this blade makes is considerably less than a regular saw blade.I would highly recommend this blade for cement board insulation.

It does what it should. I've made dozens of miter cuts with it, and it is still sharp, and has all its carbide teeth. It's hard to find a good blade for Hardie products, and this seems to be a good one. It cuts the cement fiberboard like butter. I think it's definitely worth the money.Unlike other blades I've tried for cutting Hardie products, such as the Irwin blade for cement fiberboard, where the carbide teeth come right off and the blade is useless, this one seems to last.

This Diablo 12” saw blade for Hardie board is being used on my mitre saw. It works extremely well as I figured it would as I’ve been using one on my circular saw for the longest time. It cuts fast, straight, accurate, clean and smooth. Definitely worth the money which was a good price anyway. Plus it’s a time saver. I’m happy with my purchase and definitely would recommend to anyone contemplating buying one.

Purchased this for the installation of about 300 sq. ft. of Hardie cedar plank siding. The blade cuts amazingly well. Yes, there is a lot of dust, but just be sure to set up your miter saw so that the wind blows the dust away from you. I had considering several methods of cutting the boards including purchasing/using cement shears which create no dust, but I just don't see how you can use anything other than a miter saw with this blade since you really need perfect 90 degree cuts. I also cut quite a bit of the cement board trim with this and from what I can tell it seems to cut just as well now as when I started the project. Money well spent.

If you are looking for a 12" fiber-cement siding saw blade, buy the Freud Diablo 12" Diamond Tipped Hardie Blade. I upgraded our saw from a 10" and quickly learned that amid construction tool inventory declines, none of the big-box stores are stocking this type of blade. I probably spent $30 in fuel driving around looking for a retail store that sells them. We have used a 10" Hitachi fiber cement saw blade & saw successfully for close to 7 years in an industrial setting. I tried Freud this time because of Freud's quality reputation, and expect to get many years out of it. Not sure if it is recommended, but the blade cuts wood well too - which we do occasionally versus changing blades. As with any cement blade, protect yourself from the dust!
