It's little gadget for capturing family moments, like my kids goofing around in the backyard or quick clips of our weekend hikes. I like the flip screen, it rotates 180 degrees, I can angle it to see exactly what I’m shooting for selfies or weird high angle shots. The camera is compact, lightweight, and the dark grey looks more like black. It has the basic functions I expect: zoom, flash, and modes like burst or time-lapse. The buttons are right up top, and simple to figure them out.The photos come out clear, and the colors look natural. I’ve edited a few on my phone or laptop, and they hold up well. The 64GB memory card it comes with is a nice and make it ready to use. For videos, I recorded my daughter’s school play, and the footage was clear to share with grandparents. The zoom can get a bit grainy if you push it to the max, especially in dim light, so I tend to avoid going full 18X. The flash is okay but sometimes makes things look a tad harsh, like when I tried taking indoor shots at night. I wish it had a softer setting for that.

I had to remind myself not to be too harsh on this review because I am accustomed to using Nikon SLRs that cost a great deal more than this camera. To be fair, the ad copy does state that this camera is ideal for beginners. I got it for my wife, who has expressed an interest in learning photography. I took this camera out and shot off a few frames and frankly did not like it at all. This presented me with the challenge of separating my bias from my review of this entry level camera. Having done that, I cannot argue that it is a camera and that it does what the ad copy claims (perhaps not as well?). I MUST deduct one star however for what I consider to be a product flaw. There is NO external battery charger and no second battery. This means that one must plug the camera itself into the wall to recharge. Of course, while that is occurring, the camera cannot be used. I know that the same can be said for cell phone/cameras and perhaps this is my bias coming through, but I don't want to be in the field shooting photos and NOT have a backup battery. The final complaint is the users guide. I found it to be between poor to moderately acceptable. SUMMARY: This camera functions as advertised at a very low price point.
