This digital thermometer works great. The screen is large and easy to read, even without the backlight. And, it's readable from almost any angle, too. It comes with 2 different leads: a probe that's about 3.5 inches long and a traditional thermocouple. Compared to a couple different meters, in the range of 100-400F, this new one seems spot on. Also, I like that this unit has an automatic shut off, and more importantly, has a means to disable the automatic shut off.

Having a stand-alone thermocouple rig has been something I've wanted for quite a while. This one looked to be cost-effective. So, it was ordered. The package arrived in 4 days which as between 3 and 10 days earlier than expected based on the estimated delivery interval. Everything looked to be in good condition. The meter uses 2 AAA batteries (included) for its power source. The thermocouples have wire leads which are approximately 36" long. The information on the thermocouples is a bit sketchy. It appears that the unpackaged, blue one is a TP-01 and is rated for -58 to 399 degrees F. While the plastic packaged, black one, with the stainless steel probe, appears to be a TP-02 which is usable from -58 to 1292 degrees F.I like the unit's features: Selectable backlight along with MIN, MAX and HOLD options. The display is large enough (0.7" high digits) to be readable under normal lighting conditions without the backlight. In my use, the black thermocouple has measured temperatures from 32 to over 1,000 degrees. While the blue one has been used mainly for room and duct temperature measurements.

This is a super intuitive and accurate thermometer and I have to say that using the wire attachment instead of the larger probe seems to work significantly faster at showing the temperature and that makes sense as it’s thin wire vs. A thick probe it just stands to reason and the thermometer is really accurate and quick to display the temperature it ships with the 2 triple AAA batteries it needs to work and there’s a nice velvet storage bag and all in all it’s a wonderful little piece of kit with excellent functionality very intuitive and familiar to use well made and doesn’t feel like cheap junk it feels well made it’s a nice small size while still having a wonderfully easy to read screen and a super bright backlight function it certainly does everything I would expect it to and works like a charm no complaints from me that’s for sure

Utterly worthless for my purpose. Item is listed as 328°F~2501°F in range, but I measured a 900f ceramic kiln through the vent hole as the first use, and the probe melted off and dropped in the kiln, while also on fire. One might think that a 6" probe designed for 2500F might be made with silicone, metal, or heat resistant plastic on the housing. Nope, I'd even describe this as flammable!I contacted the seller, and was told this:Thank you for your question! To provide clarification, the maximum measuring capacity for the main unit is 1372°C (2501°F) and the external thermocouple probe included has a maximum capacity of 200°C (392°F).I asked for clarification, and yes, this joke of an instrument is advertised as 2500f, but not with the included probe. Well, enjoy my returned burned mess, I'll be looking for a legitimate unit for my needs.

Nicely made. Looks and feels solid in the hand. Has back lighting, comes with batteries, a pouch, and two K thermocouples. All for under $20! I have not checked calibration but the thermocouple under my tongue shows 98 deg F., so it will be fine for ball park heat sink temperature checking.
