Our pool doesn't get full sunlight and is sometimes too cold to swim in. I have tried a couple thermometers, but wanted a remote display so I could see the water temp without having to go outside to the pool. I saw this one and ordered it.This thermometer has a few features I like, that others didn't.It has a lanyard so you can tie it off and keep it from floating all over.It has a rechargeable battery with a separate cover for the charging port - so you have 2 levels of protection. The remote display can also be back lit so it is easier to see the temps. We have a German Shepherd that attacks anything in the pool, including floating thermometers, so I have to put it in one of the scuppers where she can't get to it. That is another reason we wanted a remote display. Having a lanyard also allows me to attach it to the scupper lid so it comes out when the lid is removed for cleaning. We have had it for a couple weeks now and it works great. The charge is still holding and the remote, which runs off 1 AAA battery, is also going strong. There have been no leak issues and the dog hasn't been able to grab it.It works well and does the job. Rechargeable batteries generally last a couple years, so we'll have to see how long this one lasts. I like it better than the others I have tried so far - especially the back lit display.

If you're pool isn't temperature controlled like mine isn't, then you'll recognize the age old routine of checking your pool temperature in those first few months of spring to see when it reaches tolerable levels to hop in. If this sounds familiar, this unit is for you. I've had this in my pool for 2 weeks and it works great with an accurate reading, and was basically effortless to set up. The thermometer itself has a rechargeable battery via USB but, so far, its been running for 2 weeks without needing a charge. The interior screen just uses regular batteries. It's placed in my kitchen window roughly 60-70 feet from the thermometer with no signal issues. The interior readout displays the pool temperature and the internal temp of your home, and has a backlight!I had just recently purchased a traditional pool thermometer and it was pretty inaccurate...off by about 7 degrees...so this one is a definite upgrade for my household. My wife won't get in the pool if its any colder than 85 degrees and with this, she can see for herself!

The pool thermometer is ready to use right out of the delivery package. Add two batteries to the receiver unit and charge a battery for the transmission unit. It does not require any special knowledge, and a straightforward user guide accompanies it. A pool thermometer consists of two parts: the first part is a transmitter unit, which includes a sensor for measuring the temperature beneath the water surface, a local monitor displaying the temperature underwater, a USB rechargeable battery, and the transmitter itself. According to the user manual, the transmitter battery charges in 4 to 6 hours and has no battery level indicator except for a low battery notification. The second part includes a monitor with the receiver, a power block with two AAA batteries (not included), a sensor to measure the temperature where the monitor is placed, and a small display block with a 1 3/4" x 2 1/4" screen for displaying the underwater temperature and the temperature where the monitor is located. A special button can illuminate the display screen for 30 seconds. According to the user guide, the temperature measurement accuracy is 1.0 degrees Celsius and 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Switching between Celsius and Fahrenheit is very easy. I checked the accuracy of both sensors with my thermometer, which is accurate to 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit. The underwater sensor showed the same level of accuracy, but the other sensor performed two times worse. The transmitter and receiver are paired at the factory, but this procedure can also be performed in the pool.
