We moved into a house that has a vented gas fireplace with glass in front of the fire. It was wired for a blower, but never had one. Without the blower, the fire made for nice ambiance but didn't do much for heat. The biggest problem for us not having a blower was the heat went straight up the wall and heated the mantle too much. On top of the mantle is a pretty expensive speaker, and above that an even more expensive TV. I felt it was enough heat to possibly damage my electronics, so we never ran the fireplace.With the blower, now the heat goes into the room and not up the wall. The mantle doesn't get hot enough to cause concern for the electronics now, and the room gets noticeably warmer.Install was pretty straightforward. The instructions were not clear as to where the ground wire needed to go. Once I figured it out (there are a few places you can put it), I had to supply my own screw to mount the ground wire, because there wasn't one provided. Space is tight to get the blower in, and I had to fuss with it quite a bit to get it in place. That's not the fault of the product though.Some of these blowers have a pad under the motor. This one does not. The motor is heavy enough that it compresses the foam on the motor side so it wants to sit crooked. This is why some manufacturers have a little stand under the motor. That's one thing to be aware of when shopping for a blower.Noise is a little more than expected, and airflow is a little less than expected. Noise isn't as bad as some people say, but at full power it is almost like having a box window fan on. We just turned up the TV a notch or two and I didn't really notice it. I have my blower turned all the way up to get the air out as far as possible.PROS:- Price is probably as low as you'll find it- A blower is a must-have for a gas fireplace- easy enough to DIY install yourself for pretty much anyoneCONS:- no screw to mount the ground wire- no instructions on where the ground wire goes- a little noisy

Easy to install in a gas fireplace, but it developed a rattly buzz the 2nd day. I suspect the outer bearing on the cage fan is cooked from the heat. It works well though. Easy retrofit from the old one.

Made in China POS, was bent out of shape. The motor was not aligned, Other side pin came loose to it wobbles.
