In the interest of full disclosure, as a trusted and unbiased Amazon reviewer, I was able to request this product free of charge.These are useful for mixing small amounts of airbrush paint, epoxy, etc. At least that is how I use them. I am not quite sure why there is the cutout; however, this can be used to clip the cups on a thin walled box. The cup holds a small amount of liquid or paste.Just in case it is not immediately obvious and you haven't seen this design before, the cups are used inverted and the half sphere on the top is used to contain your mixing material. They are sturdy and evenly molded.
