I bought this to use with my portable 12VDC pump unit. The old manual valve was a pain to use to fill up 5 gallon cans or a vehicle. This valve worked as well as any gas station pump handle worked and cost about half (or less) that of most others offered. This specific unit fits the small opening for the lead free rated vehicles, so does not pass along quite as much volume as some of the larger valves may do. However, it will fit the inlet to your tank on all the late model cars and trucks using unleaded fuel. All of these auto shut-off valves DO require at least 10 psig to function as an auto shut-off.My pump does not use high pressures and it still worked perfectly. It does have a LOT of plastic around it, but the unit itself is seemingly well made and and is metal inside the plastic covers. I will use it regularly for the next several months and will update this report if it does not serve well or fails. My guess is that it will work well for a long time if not abused! Buy with confidence from Amazon and Enjoy.UPDATED 22 Feb 2014: Well, my first valve assembly lasted less than two weeks: the diaphram internally broke - it failed to shut off then..... so Amazon true to form replaced it ASAP. This new one lasted about 12 weeks (of very light service, used possibly 5 times per week) and began to leak after use and though I checked all screws and such.... it leaks gas all over very slowly. That is two strikes. Now, I tried to get Amazon to replace this defective replacement unit and it is 30 days past my first order,...... but even so, Amazon was willing to refund my purchase price! Pretty good,eh?! Thanks Amazon! :-)So, what to do when it leaks all around the black plastic seal cap and cannot be stopped? It turns out (upon disassembly) that the casting was machined off but left with jagged edges, burrs, and raised portions where the various holes were drilled in the aluminum. The fix...? Remove it all - don't lose the three little cenering check balls - and - don't get metal chips down inside the mechanism either! Then, take a sharp edged cutter(deburring tool), and remove all the burrs and raised edges. Now the very thin diapham material that acts also as the gasket can seal under the cover cap and all will be well. Do be sure to get the 3 centering balls back into their plastic pockets without one of them slipping out and down into valve control assembly, ha ha! Walla! It all works again.... after you rebuild it. (Humor intended.) Enjoy.Be warned: it looks good, has a great price, and if it works for you, you will really like it.
