This device works as advertised on an unsecured and WEP encrypted password, but even with the firmware upgrade that is supposed to enable it to use PSA-TSK, it does not work. It still recognizes the encryption as WEP regardless of setting.

My D-Link DP-G310 print server stopped working. Having several home computers already configured to print at the same printer, I chose to simply replace the same server. It was an easy swap out and the printer was back on line immediately!

The router was quickly shipped and was as advertized. It replaced the same model router that died on me. This model is not available everywhere. I am satisfied.

I bought this to use for a Canon Pixma MP830. I didn't check compatibility, I just bought it. Luckily it was compatible. Here is an updated compatibility list, others may work (ftp://ftp.dlink.pl/dp/dp-g310/documentation/DP-G310_doc_en_Printer-compatibility-list_20080121.pdf)I give it 3 stars for many reasons:1. With a multifunction printer like the MP830, you can't scan through the device, you will need to connect the printer directly to the computer to scan.2. It doesn't support WPA encryption. I hear the Revisions later than A1 support it but I haven't tested it.3. It overheats. My unit kept freezing up in the middle of print jobs requiring a reset. I removed the 2 screws at the bottom of the case and it's been working fine for 3 days without a reboot.4. The manual tells you to type in the IP 192.168.0.10. This may not be right for everyone. In my case, my router gave it the IP 192.168.1.141. If you can't connect with the 0.10 IP, log into your router and see what IPs it has given out, Type them all into your web browser, one by one (shouldn't be many) and once you get the right IP, write it down. That will permanantly be the IP of the DP-G310.Once I figured out all these problems, setting it up took about 10 minutes. The setup is pretty straight forward and I have gotten the device to work with XP (all versions) and Vista Home Premium. One more thing, to configure the DP-G310, you will need to connect it to a router via Normal Ethernet or to the back of your computer via Crossover cable. If you have the ability to set up the device by hooking it up directly to your router, I suggest you do that. The device gets hot as it is, using the wireless will probably just make it hotter. Also if you do use wireless, it means your router security is non existant or weak (WEP).

Where do I start? The fact that you have to set an IP on your home network to work with this thing that then will not allow you to communicate with the Internet? Or the fact that this thing supports about 4 printers? The manual which tells you how to set it up in XP and gives you instructions, but in fact the screen shots they show look nothing like XP? Once I got this...maybe I am missing something...ok, so I can print wirelessly as long as I have this thing permanently tethered to my router with a cable? Great as long as my router and printer sit right next to each other, but if you are like me and thought "ok..I hook this wireless thing up to my printer and off to the races" you will be very disappointed. Why was this thing even made? Mine is going right into the trash..would not even give this monkey paw to a thrift store because I would not want to curse someone else with it.

This print server promised 802.11g and USB 2.0 compatibility. Configuration and setup was easy. I first tried a Laserjet 3200 (USB 1.1) and then an HP Photosmart 7660 as well as a Canon i80 (USB 2.0).All of these printed ok from different laptops and workstations in the network. However, the status page of the printer reported "Full Speed - 12 MBps" connection between print server and printer. That however is far from USB 2.0 speed (480 MBps). Even though you never get the nominal speeds, there is clearly a problem with USB 2.0 support in this box. D-Link tech support escalated the matter and definitely confirmed that this is the current maximum speed of this unit.I am torn whether or not to return this unit and try the Linksys equivalent instead - after all the it performs ok with this one (albeit major) exception.I recently switched from a Linksys to D-Link router/access point. I am hesitant to give Linksys another try for anything, because after 3 years of experiences with LinkSys wireless routers I am convinced those lack in reach and speed. I have used 3 different models and generations in various office and home environments. My new D-Link DI-624 router beat them all in signal quality and speed.
