The collar is not long enough to bind against tapered pipe threads. A gasket cannot be used as there is a beveled edge and even if it was not beveled the hole for the pressure gauge precludes using a gasket. 5 loops of blue sealant tape and an overcoat of Rectorseal did not help. I replaced the main PRV valve three times in 8 years and bought this thinking I could use it in front of the water softener to protect both the water heater and the softener from damage the next time the main PRV fails. The 160psi+ blows out the water softener and the heater when the main home PRV fails.

Ordered 2 at the price. First one tried with included guage showed no reading. Switched to second and 100PSI John Deere guage. That worked in reducing house pressure to about 35psi from 65. Livestock waterers tend to dribble at higher pressures, but shower suffers at lower pressures.Update - after 3 weeks at 75psi input, 40 psi output dribbles.
