So I went back-and-forth a long time on the correct fuel sender to replace my bad fuel sensor and my 90 gallon fuel tank for my 2000 Fleetwood discovery diesel RV. Basically what you have to do is pull old unit out and match the rod and cut it to the same length as the old sending unit I had to drop the tank about two times in order to fine-tune the rod length to make the gauge in the dash reflect where the fuel really was. They give you a guide for Rod length which got me in the ballpark. Was a pain in the butt, but I am very glad. I have a working fuel gauge now.

I bought this sender thinking I had a bad one in my 89 International 1654 after the gauge itself tested good. Got this in the mail right away and pulled the "old" one out, which looked like an almost new version of this same sender. I was like "hmm, that's funny." Put the new one in, same exact thing, gauge is stuck in one position, only this time it was 1/4 full instead of 3/4 full. Stuck my bore scope in the tank and saw that there's a pickup tube in the exact location that the float arm is clocked to. Since the bolt pattern only lets you put these in at one orientation, I pulled it back out thinking I could re-clock the float arm and stick it back in. No such luck. It's spot welded to the hat. So instead of waiting until this thing goes back to the seller and trying to track down a fuel sender that actually works, I did what any good redneck mechanic would do and bent the hell out of the drop arm with a crescent wrench so the float wouldn't hit that pickup tube any more. Works like a charm now, but that ain't right. Two stars off for that whole snafu, but since I was able to make it work and I'll probably never have to touch it again, I think it still deserves those other 3 stars.
