Purchased what was supposed to be a used, new return, in oe box. Received a damaged part in oe box. Both mounts were broke off the fan shroud, and shroud cracked at the top. Will try to repair with plastic welding equip, to see if salvageable. Don't know if shipping caused damage but box was in tact, with no damage other than what could be expected from multiple trips. If damage occurred prior to this trip, the Amazon employee who inspected and judged it to be OK to sell needs glasses or eye exam.

Installed new Dorman replacement fan in my BMW530xi. The fan worked great for about 2 weeks then failed. I returned that item to Amazon and they sent a replacement. The return procedure was quick and easy. Unfortunately, the second fan arrived in a box that was previously opened box. The unit looked new and we were desperate to get our vehicle back on the road so we installed it. The second Dorman fan worked great for a week or so then died. I'm now looking to buy an original BMW replacement part for nearly double the price because I don't trust the Dorman fans.

Don't buy this part for your 2006 550i, it doesn't fit. The housing has no space or brackets for radiator, it comes with 4 wires and the car has only 3, part # is not the same,for the 550i 2006, the correct part # 17427534911-03. This one doesn't fit and I have been charged with returning freight, since it was my fault.....I don't know why, since the sitestates that it will fit.

Installation was straight forward and very easy to do. Dealer want $900 to replace but I was able to accomplish for under $300. Definitely a DIY project, even for the novice!
