Amazon compatibility chart doesn't show that it is compatible to Mercury Grand Marquis GS 2002, but it is compatible with this car, plus it has perfect fit. OEM is ~$330 Motorcraft F8AZ-4234-DA axle (which has ABS).It has bearing which is supposed to be compatible with Motorcraft 3W1Z-1225-AA (which dealer sells for $40).In practice bearing didn't go in the place - maybe it was little bit larger.Tried $11 replacement with Advance Auto Parts: Driveworks Wheel Bearing Part No. S-5707 - it was squeezed with hardship into one axle, but didn't get into another one - I don't recommend.Note that S-5707 as well as bearing which comes with this axle - both have one less roller than OEM.Advance Auto Parts has $15 National Cylindrical Bearing Part No. 5707, which looks identical to OEM (the same number of rollers) and much better fit.Oil seal which comes with this package is compatible with ~$6 OEM Motorcraft Part Number: F67Z-1S177-ACA, but looks much less sophisticated. OEM has tiny spring which goes around and tightens the seal.Note that you should not reuse LOCK PIN: OEM Motorcraft D8BZ-4241-C, which you will be assembling differential gears. This pin comes with compound which prevents it from un-tightening. My dealer didn't have it and I went with Amazon Dorman HELP! 81048 Differential Shaft Lock Bolt. You would also need "Genuine Ford Fluid XY-75W140-QL SAE 75W-140". My diff needed two bottles.Factory puts "80W-90" weight oil which costs less and people say that such saves fraction of MPG, but 75W-140 protects your bearings and axle better & might have extra benefits in hot climate. If you have limited slip diff - then also "Genuine Ford Fluid XL-3 Friction Modifier Additive"Don't forget to buy gasket (if you intend to open that diff often) - otherwise something like Amazon Permatex 81182 Gear Oil RTV Gasket Maker, 3 oz. should be good. I had once dealer repaired this axle and they put Gasket Maker.Make sure you have heavy-duty axle puller set. Amazon Alltrade 648611 Kit 41 Master Axle Puller Tool Set served me well.I would recommend to use a lot of brake cleaner (protect your hands and lungs!) to take old grease with metal particles out. Putting (many!) soaked with brake cleaner rugs on a broom handle is a solution. Amazon "CRC 5090 Brakleen Brake Parts Cleaner, 1 Gal" for broom and "Super-X 630, Non-Chlorinated Brake Cleaner - Low VOC - 10 fl. oz." for hard to reach spots served me well.Differential oil-filling bolt is sometimes difficult to get out because of rust - make sure you will take this bolt before you close differential. Amazon "Blaster 16-PB Penetrating Catalyst - 11 oz." helped me there. It is recommended to clean old oil on both sides. Considering very low cost of Amazon axle - it might make sense to replace axles on both sides. Or just replace bearing on other side if original axle surface looks pristine.Dealer cost to replace axle on one side is ~$933. On both sides it is ~$1300. If you DIY with Amazon - it will be less than $300 for both sides plus cost of axle puller.I put 4 stars only to indicate that freebies (bearing and oil seal) are not of the highest grade, but axle itself is 4.6 times less than OEM and it was my car life-saver. Without Amazon incredible price I would sell my car since whole car is not worth $1300 at this time.I bought two axles and 4 nuts were different in both packages (open nuts as on OEM in one case and closed nuts in another).
