The fixed ends of this cable and the one I replaced are both made of what appears the be pvc or similar nonmetal plastic. This is so the grooved end will snap into the fixed mount on the handle or latch. I found it difficult to snap in at the top handle do to space restrictions hampering access. It was easier to remove the bottom latch connection first. Do the top handle mount and then the bottom latch.
