I guess I didn’t notice it in the picture, the front bleed hole, was odd to me! Did make bench bleeding a lot easier. Fits a 2001 Forester and works as it should.

If its cold outside then it gets warm, it dumps all of the fluid out of the seal on the bottom of the reservoir ....... i carry around brake fluid.

Installation was easy enough, the only issue with this part was that there is a small gap (about 1 inch of clutch travel) at the beginning of the "clutch stroke" after installation. Yes I bled the fluid to get rid of any air bubbles, starting at the master cylinder and eventually going to the slave. The fix that was given to me by a local shop was to push the connecting rod in by hand to eliminate the dead zone and then connect it to the clutch pedal.

Product worked well and was easy to install. That's more subaru's doing than Dorman, but hope it helps potential buyers know this is an easy item to service. If you can change your oil, you can do this work on this model subaru - 2001 Outback. My master cylinder failed after 168K and my clutch would no longer disengage. I called a shop and got a quote for $350 to perform the work for me. I bought the parts on Amazon for ~$78 to the door. The work took me about an hour and required some metric wrenches and sockets. No special tools were required.I had to remove the air filter housing, 2 bolts and a hose clamp, to gain clearance to the slave cylinder from the engine bay. It's nice, it's right on top of the transmission, just under the air filter housing. Removing the air filter housing also made removing the clutch master cylinder easier also.It saved me $273 over going to a shop and was what I would consider an easy job. As stated, if you can change your own oil and filter, this job is not out of your league. Hope this helps.
