I'm sure this is a good product for doors, but was unable to fully try as our mid or center edging of the door that overlaps the other is more pronounced, or pronounced period so it doesn't fit flush across. So if your door edging overlaps the other and is pronounced or sticks out - this won't work. Bummer!

This is a well made security bar for a set of French doors. Make sure you have two handles. However, don't fret if you don't. You can purchase a a dummy door knob and utilize some heavy duty screws. The security bar is fairly easy to unlock and functions as it should. Sometimes the key can be fidgety, but overall it works well. It comes with three keys. That said, being it is for indoors, a panic release option would be desired. Fire and smoke spread quickly, so you will want to keep that in mind as to not block a means of egress.

I’ve had an unused set of French doors in my home that always made me nervous. I didn’t want to drill into or damage the custom inlaid flooring at the threshold, so I held off installing any additional security for years—until now. This product is outstanding. It installs quickly, easily, and securely—without causing any damage at all to my floors. Paired with the solid brass Baldwin hardware already installed, it provides total peace of mind. Now I sleep easy knowing these doors are properly secured. The included travel pouch is a thoughtful bonus. I’m ordering more to take on the road, as many suites I frequent have double front doors and master bedrooms with private balconies accessed via French doors. Problem solved! If you’re looking for simple, effective, damage-free security for double doors, look no further. Highly recommended—5 stars all the way.

I’m impressed with this double door locking device! It’s solid, well-constructed, and gives me added peace of mind. The all-metal design feels sturdy and reliable—no cheap plastic parts. It was easy to install and fits perfectly around our French door handles. The U-shaped bar design is smart and prevents kick-ins by reinforcing the doors from the inside. We especially like that it’s keyed, so it’s extra secure but still easy to unlock when needed. A must-have for anyone with double doors looking to boost home security!

The locking mechanism feels smooth and reliable, with good weight and build quality that gives you confidence. No cheap rattling or flimsy parts, this thing is built to last. I love that it allows both doors to function properly while keeping everything tight and secure when locked. The install was simple, and it fit perfectly on my double doors without needing any weird adjustments or workarounds. It’s also got a sleek, low-profile design that doesn’t scream "heavy-duty security system" but still gives that solid, upgraded feel.

Got this to increase the security on my front [French] doors of my house as crime is ever increasing in the populated areas of this country. Home invasions and robberies where people brazenly kick in people's doors at any hour of the day...have become common--there is another one you hear about every week. And because crime is only going to increase and get worse in the coming, oh I dunno 4-5 years, sadly one *needs* to start...barricading their doors, to protect themselves and their loved ones. This is only going to be one part of the additional security measures installed on the door but for its part, seems like it will do well. The device is a simple "U-bar" that goes around the handles/knobs of a French door and has a sliding bar that secures and locks on the other side of the U. The U-bar side also has a convenient "D-shape" built into it as a handle. The locking bar has various positions of which it can be locked in which can accommodate different handle sizes and spacing. It's a solid bit of strong solid alloy--not steel, magnets do not stick--and has a "good enough" locking mechanism (for an exterior door). The lock is nothing special (more on this later) but because there's not really any easy way to access the lock mechanism while it's installed, while trying to open the door(s) from the out/other side, it makes gaining entry difficult. Potential intruder can't really get a hand between the doors with this installed, for example. Also are not really going to be able to get a saw in and start hacking away at the bar too well either.I'm sure it's not going to make your door *impervious* to entry--certain levels of force or methods might either circumvent it or break the door handles off or something like that, hence why I'll be installing a couple other things to brace the door as said. This is a good start. It seems like it should work very well for what it is. Of course I wasn't going to try to kick in/damage my own doors to find its limits, but at the very least this will buy you time to wake you up from the noise, call police, get your firearm, etc.As a note, the instructions say that it is "not suitable" for door handles that have a curved end, but the instructions don't explain it, just says it can't be used. However if you look at the listing photos more carefully it shows you that if the curves go in too far towards the door, then it won't be installable--so it *does*/can work on curved handles but you'll need to measure before buying--pretty simple as they give you the measurements you need there. As for using this on an *interior* situation, you know like to keep your kids out of the den, liquor cabinet, etc...when the lock is placed on the "same side"? Yes it will work--it still stops the doors from opening inwards or outwards. BUT, this type of lock mechanism is very easily picked by anyone that knows what they are doing. There's various pick methods as well as easy-to-get "universal" key type tools to simply unlock it. Now for most instances this is probably not a problem but again if it's a matter of trying to keep your kids out of somewhere and your kid has full time access to the actual lock? Well if said kid has a little bit of smarts and can watch Youtube...well they'll be able to get this off without drama...and without you even knowing they had it off/on again. Even more funny is the lock itself has the key code engraved right on the top of it, so a third method is just to get the same diameter type "circle key" of the code there-printed and that's all she wrote. And yes one of those could be ordered online quite easily with the code.In other words if the lock is on *other* side of the door where the person trying to potentially gain access is, it's a lot more effective a tool. If that person is on the same side as the locking bar...well read what I wrote above. The lock mechanism itself is a pretty simple one the lock opens and closes and there's a small lever that lifts to unlatch the sliding bar. At first because the way that is designed you think you have to turn it but that's not the case--it moved up and down, not a rotating bit. Once the lock is unlocked, the centre of the lock pops up. When this is pushed down, it will lock it in place and now the key is required to open it. When you push down the button it also forces the latch down at the same time so it ensures the lock is only engaged when the latch is engaged. What this means is it can be locked without the key in hand, though be careful to ensure you have the key before you do that. Otherwise now you're going to lock yourself in/out but at least that key code is on there and you can easily get more keys for it with that. It does come with *3* keys though, so that's plenty IMO, to keep in different locations should your main-use one ever get misplaced or go AWOL.As a note one could actually use this without even bothering to lock it, and just push the latch down without pushing down the lock part. Again this is only suitable where the "trying to enter party" would be on the opposite side. It *would* be less secure this way, but since they'd not be able to easily lift the latch it could still be almost as effective. It would add convenience of not having to unlock it with a key all the time. Violently shaking rattling, etc. the bar around and against things, doesn't appear to inadvertently "pop up" the latch to let it slide it either. So this all points to reasonable use; but you make your own judgments on whether you think leaving it latched but unlocked is a good idea for you or not. After the three keys it also comes with a nice soft storage bag--a very thoughtful addition, though TBH I doubt I'm ever going to use that thing. The only other gripes I have about it are the colour being black (wish it was avail. in white to match my doors); and the fact that being a solid bit of metal means installing/removing it all the time is potentially going to ding/scratch up your door handles a bit being metal-on-metal contact. Probably worse for those with polished/shiny handles. I'm thinking of wrapping mine with some electrical tape; or perhaps spraying with plasti-dip (which could reasonably change the colour as well), as a solution.

I got this and pulled it out of the package and went to put it on the doors, just to see how it worked. And then I pulled the curtain back and realized I've only got one knob on my French doors. The other door has slide locks. Insert facepalm here. This is heavy, and seems quite solid. It's not their fault that I couldn't remember what my own house looks like.

My French doors lead to a porch that isn't very secure, so when I saw this lock, I really wanted to get it. I feel a lot better now that I know the doors have an extra layer of security on them. The lock is solid metal adding strength to the doors. It's easy to use & set up but easy enough to remove it if I want to open my doors in the warm weather.

I recently installed the Double Door Locking Device on the interior French doors leading to my home office, and it’s been a fantastic solution for keeping my space secure. With young children running around and occasional visitors in the house, I needed something to ensure my office stays off-limits, and this lock delivers perfectly. The all-metal construction feels incredibly solid, giving me confidence that it can withstand any curious kids trying to barge in. I love how the U-shaped bar design fits snugly over both door handles, preventing the doors from being opened without the key. Installation was straightforward—it took me less than 15 minutes to set up, and it works seamlessly with my double levers. The keyed mechanism is smooth and easy to use, and I appreciate the extra layer of security it provides against potential kick-ins or accidental entries. It’s discreet enough not to clash with my office’s aesthetic, blending well with the doors. So far, it’s held up great, with no signs of wear despite daily use. This lock has given me peace of mind knowing my office stays private and safe. I’d highly recommend it to anyone with French doors looking for a robust, user-friendly security upgrade.
