Your cart is empty.Drummond Scientific has a long and outstanding history in the manufacturing of microinjection apparatus. Several years ago we became aware that our 10 microliter positive displacement micro dispenser was being modified to inject Xenopus oocytes. We modified this unit by redesigning the micro dispenser to eliminate any tip movement caused by plunger rotation. Further modifications seemed uneconomical which prompted a complete redesign. Drummond developed a positive displacement motorized unit which was capable of repetitively dispensing precisely 46 nL., a volume optimized for oocyte injection. This was to be the first Nanoject. The introduction of the Nanoject II offers volumes ranging down to 2.3 nL and up to 69nL with a higher torque motor. This new motor is quieter and smoother in operation further reducing tip movement. The development of new collet configuration will hold the micropipette more securely and thereby reduce air infiltration and oil leakage. The two speed fill/inject mode will allow the user to fill and inject at half speed facilitating the use of smaller micropipettes. The handling of more viscous samples will also be improved. All factors which enhance the precise delivery of sample. Positive displacement technology and the use of precision micropipettes, eliminates the need for tedious calibration when the viscosity of the samples change. Contaminates in the sample do not hinder or change the injection volume as with some other injectors. The Drummond Nanoject II Auto-Nan liter Injector is specifically designed to perform ultra-delicate nanoliter injection procedures into cells. Each Nanoject II Auto-Nan liter Injector comes complete with 200 borosilicate capillaries that can be pulled to the required tolerance together with a back filling needle and maintenance kit. Separate Foot Switch available to allow hands-free operation.

Horrible experience with the nanoject II. It came with a wrong o-ring set up which after months of trying to get explanations from the customer service, it got fixed. The problem with the wrong set up was that the micropipete was always being automatically released and even when properly attached, the oil was often leaking. After fixed, the system worked better but still some times the capillary leaked oil and sometimes also detach automatically (something to avoid when reproducibility is crucial!). As an additional note: in the manual it is stated that the set up is recommended for micropipete tips of 10-30 microns tips. I needed 10 microns tips and using this size the system gets stuck every 3-4 times which requires to start over, which is very anoying given the amount of time required to fill the micropippete. Certainly, I would not recommend this set up to anyone trying to do serious science, not good at all. Toy-like apparatus.
