Works as described. Easily ensure that one of 2 breakers is always locked out so that only one source is active at any one time. (until the thumbscrew is removed). It IS still possible for someone to really muck things up by removing that thumbscrew. But frankly, it is possible to muck up anything so I can't fault the product. This product makes it easy to always lock out one of two sources (or both). The circuit breaker that is not locked, functions as a normal circuit breaker. They even have color coded signals showing which is active and which is inactive. The box is solid with a see through door that lifts out of the way if there is an issue.

If this will switch between grid-tie and renewable supplies, then it should also switch between 2 different battery banks. Instead of one, whole-home system, it's a better engineering plan for this place to set up 2 or 3 smaller systems - and I have 2 different battery bank types that can't be combined together. We'll see just how it ties in when the electrician gets here, and we put it all together but he's pretty sure it'll do it. It's definitely heavier, beefier than it looks.

I got this for myself too help with the garage shop. I have 2x 20 amp tools that will immediately blow my fuse if I accidentally have both on at the same time, and so I got them wired up into this to make sure that only one can be running out of time to save myself a trip to the basement. Simple enough to install, materials feel good for the price. Overall can't complain.

We are in the process of add a backup pump to our reverse osmosis system and needed a switch that could use one or the other. Glad we came across this item since it will prevent two pump from running at the same time. Very high quality material and workmanship went into making this item. We haven't had a chance to install this yet so stay tune for updates.

One load, two power sources, and an absolute certainty that one cannot feed into the other? That's where a manual transfer switch with a physical interlock comes into play. Mounted in a 5-DIN box, the breakers are two individual dual-pole breakers with a sliding plate that prevents one source from being able to be turned on when the other side is engaged. Only when both sources are off can the plate be slid over, enabling the other source to be turned on.A few comments to note -- no written instructions are included; everything is to be referenced off this listing page. There are zero third party listings such as UL, ETL, CSA, TUV, SGS, or the like; if your installation requires inspections, don't expect this to be approved. Finally, while the plate normally prevents one from switching both sources on at the same time, its thumbscrew is too easy to unscrew it and allow a potentially dangerous scenario. For such reasons, 4 stars. This is fine if one understands the risks, and it works, but it's not absolutely 100% foolproof either.
