I would love to like this tool. The problem I have is that when I went to move to a new cutting surface, the screw just stripped rather than turning. Did I over tighten? No, I don’t think so, it’s still on its first position from the factory. We have tried everything, even going so far as to try to drill it out (does not work). So I spent all this money on something that now sits and mocks me. I don’t buy Easy Wood anymore, and my future purchases will certainly never be easy wood.

While this is sold as a rough finisher, it also does a fine job of turning smaller wooden objects down to near final shape. I use all 3 mini easy carbide tools for a variety of smaller wood turning applications and this one is the most versatile. The carbide cutter blade is very long lasting. Overall, these aren’t the cheapest tools available, but they are the best.

Perfect little helper for small projects. Sharp as hell and a nice handle. If you want a red handle like pictured, beware ... its a bright orange, but looks really cool :)

If you haven't turned with carbide tools wow. I turn pens, grinders, bowls, etc. Nice weight and length. It comes with the square tip, but you can also get the r2 tip, which is a 2" radius tip. I actually bought 2. One has sq tip, other has r2 tip

I took it out of the package and went straight to turning deer antler. I turned 4 pens in 30 minutes and was getting 12 inch curly shavings. If you've ever turned deer antler this speaks for itself. I will be buying the full set and putting the rest of my chisels off to the side for occasional use. This thing is awesome.

I have this and the finisher. I love them both. Just rotate the blade when it gets dull. They seem to last a fairly long time before having to replace them. I would estimate a couple months before I had to replace the rougher blade. That was with light to medium use, 2-3 times a week for a few hours each time.
