I recommend this if:you're going from PC - Unbalanced or from Unbalanced DAC ..etc and want to convert to Balanced + higher signal output + get rid of humm-buzz in your setup (which it really does well)..For my rear speakers in a 5.1 setup:- I'm (temporarly) using a crown (XLS 1002)Connections/setup are from unbalanced to the Ebtech -10 via 1/4'' then output From the +4 via XLR to the CROWN. when I did the setup before owning the Ebtech with Unbalanced straight to the Crown I was getting a source humm-buzz hooking the RCA's up etc....- once my Ebtech LLS-2-XLR was set up the HUMM-BUZZ is gone..GONE!!Thank you.//ALSO @SELLER: @RECORDING STORE- thank you for selling this 'amazon fulfilled' .. Worked like a charm. I did have one problem it seemed to reverse the polarity of the lines going out. I simply reversed the plus and minus connection on a couple of XLR connectors to solve the problem.
Sounds OK to Me

This device does EXACTLY what is is supposed to do, allowing interface between semi pro (-10) and pro (+4) gear. It is clearly NOT a microphone preamp, nor does it claim to be one. As an added bonus it isolated the input from the output, making it an ideal interface between a computer or other problematic audio source and a balanced line level input to a pro sound system. Writing this revue to help balance from a reviewer who unjustly gave a poor review because he BOUGHT the wrong device

I bought this to help improve the signal going from a mic (xlr) through a guitar pedal to an amp. My understanding was this device would help boost the signal more than the typical drop you get going through an xlr to 1/4 inch adapter. I saw no difference at all. Weirdly, running out from both the +4 and -10 outs, produced the same signal. So, I don't see what this actually does. Nothing helpful for me anyway.
