The hot melt glue works very well and makes a strong bond. The birch that I'm using took the wood stain just like the face panel of the doors and looks great.What is not said about the product is that the veneer is spliced at about three foot intervals. The splice is like a finger joint, very well done, and virtually disappeared after I gave it a light sanding with 220 grit and applied a light stain. You would never know a splice existed.

I had a piece of 3/4" MDF lying around that I wanted to turn into a quick & easy laptop desk. It already had a walnut veneer top applied, but the edges were still unfinished. I ordered a roll of this edge banding and it matched the top perfectly. Easy to apply with a standard clothes iron on the highest heat setting. I don’t own an edge banding trimmer and the adhesive doesn’t play nicely with router bits (gums them up quickly) so I opted for a fresh snap blade from my graphics razor and just went at it slow, making sure to keep the blade flat and flush with the table top. Worked beautifully. Just needed a light hand sanding to remove the sharp edges. Installed some threaded inserts and bolted on some inexpensive hairpin legs and what do you know, a decent little desk that cost less than $50
