The Educator E-Fence system keeps your dog in your yard without changing the appearance of the home, and without the cost and hassle of a traditional fence. Set up the E-Fence in any pattern you choose, and only you and your dog will know about it. Keep your dog away from flower beds, a swimming pool, or a vegetable garden. All that’s needed is a thin border wire buried a couple inches below ground, or the boundary wire can be tacked to the bottom of a wood fence or weaved through the bottom of a chain-link fence. E-Fence works by electronically connecting the buried wire and the electronic collar via a radio signal. As the dog walks near the boundary, the collar gives off a caution sound or vibration. This sound/vibration alerts the dog that it's getting too close to the boundary. If the dog keeps moving toward the boundary, the dog will receive a mild correction. The sensation momentarily surprises the dog and gets its attention allowing it to learn new boundaries. 30 levels of adjustable stimulation allow you to set the right learning level for your dog. Through training and as time goes on, the sound/vibration warning feature by itself will prevent the dog from getting too close to the perimeter of the yard. Soon your dog will learn its boundaries and will no longer need to receive any correction. E-Fence employs quick charge lithium polymer batteries and is waterproof and shock resistant. It generally takes about two weeks to train a dog to use the E-Fence. After the dog is trained, it can walk and run around in the yard anywhere it wants, and the pet owner will feel confident that the dog is safe, happy, and secure. E-Fence supports multiple dogs if each dog has its own collar. Some pet owners may worry about the correction but be assured that these are only “static” corrections and are very mild and will not hurt the dog. The corrections are like when you slide your feet on the carpet and then touch something. The correction is irritating, but not hurtful.

A I did a lot of research on these invisible dog fences and I even priced out having it done. I came across this unit on YouTube and it was pretty close to the system the pros were going to put in.It was easy to install. Many video on line about it. 30 different level of correction is a big plus. Only thing I wish you could do is adjust the warning tone louder. There may be away but I could not find it any were.Tip: when installing don’t go cheap on the wire. I when with 14 gauge because that is what the pros use. The cheaper the wire the less life you will get out of the system

I've purchased 3 of these collars. The most recent one was 2.5 months ago. None of them are working. For over $100.00, I feel like you should get something that works for longer.

I have a Siberian Husky and a property with no fence (about 1 acre). The cost of the retail-equivalent while being professionally installed in the backyard was over $3000. I opted to do the work myself. It isn't easy to install if you have to bury it. But then again, what do you expect? The main reason for my success is that my dog was already trained to an e-collar. Part of what you are paying the professionals for is that they train both the dog and you for that high sum.I placed the blue flags along the perimeter and my dog learned fairly quickly what the boundaries were. However, the key thing is to not make the outside area a place where the animal associates it with pain. When we'd go outside, I'd put the collar on and we'd play (fetch, whatever). Then I'd take her around the perimeter close enough to get the audible sound. I kept the shock on "low" to start.I didn't let her really "test it" without me nearby. Once she began to learn that the audible sound means the shock would go off if she got closer, I turned the shock up in case she tested it when I wasn't looking. She hasn't escaped a single time. We've had it for nearly 2 years now. We've lost power after a bad storm... I send her out there with the collar on knowing that the fence won't do anything since it is off. She won't even test it out. She stays in the area she is supposed to.So, it was a lot of sweat to bury this cable in a large backyard and probably a week or two of training, but in the end, it was well worth it to me.

We have owned 3 brands of in-ground pet fences over the past 20 years. We installed the Educator system in fall-2020 and immediately were impressed by some features which are better than any other unit we have owned. But the system also has some fatal flaws that make this brand simply not worth the hassle or the money.First, the details of our setup: we have a 2.5 acre rural lot and use the system to contain 2 Australian Cattle Dogs. Our boundary is complex with no physical fences, but we limit the dogs to the back and side yards, as well as the house, while keeping them off of the font and driveway areas. We also keep them out of a garden and coop area which is in "their" part of the backyard. Here is what we love about the system: The control unit is very high quality, with more features for "tuning" the system than most. It also has integrated standby power to keep the fence active in the case of a power outage. It has never had stray signals which surprise the dogs and I can honestly say it is the best control head we have had on any system. Cattle dogs are smart and will test the integrity of any type of containment system, but the Educator system has worked well for our dogs. Here is what is terrible about the system: Since installing the system in the fall of 2020, we have purchased 5 collars for our 2 dogs. 2 of the collars had the receiver unit housing crack, letting water and dirt into the electronics, with predictable results (see photos). A 3rd collar simply stopped pairing with the system. We tried endless ways to get it to re-pair and it simply would not. I reached out to the manufacturer (you have to search the web and you can find their 1-800 number), but never received a call back on any of the occasions I informed them of the problems we were dealing with. And because we need the system to contain the dogs, we had little choice but to buy another collar, and another collar, and another collar. At $140 apiece, this is unacceptable - especially when the collars were barely over 1 year old each time. We have $700 invested in collars now, with 3 of them completely useless. The only other issue we have had with the system is minor by comparison. Twice we have had collars un-pair from the system. Cattle dogs are smart and constantly test the boundary. Once they realize they are no longer getting the initial warning sound when they approach the boundary, they know they are free to ignore the boundary altogether. Because they are smart, simply re-pairing the collar is all that is needed to get them abiding by the boundary again, but it is always a worry for us now, wondering what might happen on those occasions when a collar loses its link with the fence. For us, the hassle of the poor-quality collars, combined with absolutely zero support from the manufacturer is the deal killer for us. The system is expensive, and we deserved higher quality collars and much better support. We will abandon the Educator system as soon as we can find a suitable replacement.

I bought this system and collars in 2019 when my Invi$ible Fence system died of old-age. Cost is VERY good compared to Invi$ible Fence $$$$$ . If you have half of a chestnut in your brain for DIY, you CAN install this system.Collars are rugged, i have 3 large breed/high drive dogs. Collars are programmable for stimulation level and other items. The dogs do not break through "the fence"Support is great, I had a collar issue recently and they said "sounds like a battery, we will send you a new one" -- other companies soak you on Batteries.

My dog is so happy he knows his boundaries and had freedom to roam within them. It's the best system I have found! Easy to turn off at the control box to take him over the line on a leash. The rechargeable collar charges quickly and lasts over 4 weeks. Lots of adjustments to increase correction while learning the boundaries. Very durable, well made and easy to install. I highly recommend it. It's well worth the $.
