I had purchased some $7 wood appliques at Lowes, to go over the windows in my new art studio. I had also purchased this Ekena appplique in the 24" size to go over the door. Once I saw the difference in quality between the $7 appliques and these ones, I understood that you get what you pay for. The cheap ones looked like a ragged mess when they were painted. Like they needed serious sanding, which is really not an easy thing to do. I ordered these in the 12" size for my windows. These Ekena appliques required NO sanding at all and painted beautifully.I don't know if the image shows the roughness of the cheap applique on the bottom, but here's a comparison of the two.
