This was my first heating mat and I was a little concerned that it might discolor the countertop or not keep the food warm enough, but I'm happy to report, neither was the case. It does a really good job of keeping the food warm enough to serve. It definitely has room for more than one item to be kept warm. It seems like it was made to last, too, with the durable materials they used. It actually saves me the headache of having to go back to reheat items because they cooked quicker than the rest of my meal. It cleaned up like a breeze, as well!

I like to host the occasional get together but storage space is at a premium in my condo. I was looking for a compact option to keep warm and hot appetizers and hors d’oeuvres warm for the duration of a party and this fits that need perfectly. You’ll be surprised at the heft of this mat. It is solid and while it rolls compactly it feels substantial. With the adjustable settings, you can program this mat for whatever temperature your food requires allowing you to keep a Brie or dip nice and warm without needing to use multiple crockpots or other devices. This is a practical addition to your kitchen if you like to host parties.

This Electric Food Warming Mat was a fascinating addition to our Lunar New Year party. It definitely sparked some conversation, especially when we used it to try to keep our grilled skewers warm. The mat itself heated up nicely, and the ceramic serving platter we placed on top also felt warm to the touch. However, we encountered a bit of a puzzle: the food on the platter remained at room temperature, even with the mat set to its highest setting. It's possible the thick ceramic platter was acting as an insulator, preventing the heat from reaching the food effectively. Perhaps foil trays would yield better results, and I plan to try that next time.Despite the temperature discrepancy, I'm pleased with the mat's performance in other aspects. It didn't leave any heat marks on our countertop, which was a huge relief. Cleaning it was a breeze, and it rolled up neatly for storage in the included drawstring bag. The operation was straightforward, no need for the instruction manual. While the warming performance with our ceramic platter was a bit underwhelming, the mat's overall quality and ease of use are commendable. I'm hopeful that with a different type of serving dish, it will live up to its full potential, and the success of other reviewers makes me feel optimistic about it!

The Electric Food Warming Mat (Black Upgrade Series) was purchased as a gift for an individual who loves to cook. Comments following review, testing and limited use:1. Mat arrived rolled in a cloth drawstring storage bag with 120V power cord and instruction manual.2. Attached strap rolls the mat up to a diameter of approximately 5" - easily hung, laid flat or rolled for storage.3. Silicone material is approximately 1/8" thick and dense, with the surface being elevated off of the substrate by numerous silicone legs approximately 9/16" providing 7/16" clear space for ventilation.4. Top is very smooth and should clean easily. It also has a line around the perimeter showing the extent of the underside heating wires.5. The control strip is very accessible and contains on/off, timer with 4 settings, temperature control with 8 settings, LED temperature readout, and a safety lock function for little hands.6. The underside is home to the noted silicone legs as well as approximately 30 LF of serpentine heating wire tucked directly under the main surface.7. Mat heat was noticeable in under 10 seconds with full heat at the lowest setting being reached in 1 minute +/-, with the high temperature being reached in 2-3 minutes. With the large footage of heating wire underside the mat had a good even heat distribution.8. All controls with the exception of the timer durations were tested and each functioned flawlessly.9. Initial use was for heating small plates and bowls - a temperature setting of 140F was initially chosen, easily reached, and provided exceptional heat to the dishes allowing heat to be decreased to 109F. Heated dishes was very noticeable during the meal - Nice. Will also be using the mat as a warmer for cooked foods and to thaw frozen.Form, Fit and Function of the warming mat is Very Good. Although is has a higher price point than some competitors, is does possess more control options plus a 2 year warranty, and the Value is correspondingly considered Good. The product is Recommended with a 5 Star rating.

This warming mat was a special grab that we used for a certain occasion where we had people outdoors and it worked OK. We placed it on an outdoor table near a serving area, plugged it in, and let it do its work. Cleaning it afterwards was a breeze, and the fact that it rolls up neatly for storage is a huge plus.Functionally, the mat heats up quickly to the set temperature and definitely feels quite warm to the touch. Conductivity is a big issue we had, though...whereas the mat was rather warm, you still need an effective way to transfer this heat into the container. I swapped over to thin, disposable aluminum trays, and this worked better than serving dishes to conduct the heat. Next time we break this out, I'll likely set serving dishes within an aluminum tray with some water for the best heat transfer possible.The mat is very simple and intuitive to use, and it's made very well...clean edges, quality electronics. The cord is a proper length as well. I could definitely see this being a great tool for defrosting food, as well, as it can be adjusted down to a very low heat to avoid cooking anything.Altogether, this is a neat idea and a well-made product. It's a bit pricey, but - if it lasts a long time and sees a lot of regular use - it's well worth the investment.
