A throttle body is used to control the amount of air entering an engine, and therefore the amount of fuel admitted from the carburetor or by the injectors. So that the driver can get a better driving experience.

How does the electronic throttle body work?
The throttle body uses an electronic signal rather than a mechanical signal to control the throttle. This means that when you depress your car's gas pedal, instead of opening the gas pedal, you activate the gas pedal module, which converts the pressure you're putting on the pedal into an electrical signal. This signal is then sent to the electronic control unit, which considers your inputs as well as external variables to open the throttle for optimum efficiency and performance.
