Glossy
Element Glossy Embroidery Thread is the basis of almost all we do in embroidery. An exceptionally high quality, 40 weight trilobal embroidery thread, it boasts those highly desirable characteristics of a brilliant sheen, inherent strength, dimensional stability (keeps its shape and looks new for a long time) and abrasion resistance (perfect for items that will be worn and laundered routinely).
That means it's perfect for everything we might embroider from wall hangings, to quilting, to fashion and accessories to items of home decor. The available 465 Element trilobal polyester colors will easily satisfy even our most ambitious creative pursuits.
Matte
Element Matte Embroidery Threads exhibit all of those same qualities with one exception and one addition. First of all the exception. No sheen. None. The additional feature? Just the opposite. They produce a flat, even color with an absolute and distinct lack of shine.
They are used most often for subdued decoration or for creating surface contrast with the shiny threads. The subtle, less than shiny effects of matte-finish embroidery thread enables us to create depth or shading to our embroidery. We can combine it with the lustrous, shiny properties of regular trilobal polyester thread to achieve a sense of layering or structure. Implementing any of the available 233 Element matte-finish colors can open amazing, and perhaps even new, creative vistas for us.
Embroidery is a rich tapestry of color and texture and shape and depth. Utilizing the special effects found within the naturally inherent characteristics of Element Glossy and Element Matte Embroidery thread makes that all possible. When we add contrasting thread finishes to our creative vision, we deepen and extend the qualities that make machine embroidery so compelling.

“ELEMENT Tropical Pack” is good quality, polyester machine embroidery thread. Living in a tropical climate, I appreciate the tropical colors. The colors are subdued, have a nice glossy sheen, and compliment each other well... My embroidery machine has built-in thread tensioning, so I have had no thread breakage while using this thread… Every good machine embroiderer knows—you can never have enough thread colors and types. This polyester Tropical Thread Pack is a good addition to my thread stash. I enjoy using the colors and would buy it again.

This is a great color palette for any embroiderer. There are several groups of closely related colors to allow for blending. I would have preferred more blue/green/purples in the mix, but the heavy on red/pink/orange/yellow works well for more "tropical" style designs, flower designs or other warm color designs.The 40wt thread is reasonably strong and stitches nicely in my machine. I did not have thread breaks when using this thread.
