I bought this mainly for engraving on metal and cleaning up small rough spots, and it’s been great for both. The pen is lightweight and comfortable to hold, which makes it easy to control for detailed work. It’s definitely more of a precision tool than a heavy-duty engraver, but perfect for DIY, crafts, and customizing small items. What really stands out is the large selection of bits it comes with. There’s a great variety of shapes and sizes, which makes it easy to switch between engraving, filing, polishing, and even grinding in tight areas where regular tools can’t reach. Swapping out bits is simple and tool-free, and everything stays organized in the included storage case. The rechargeable, cordless design is super convenient, and the three-speed settings help adjust to different materials and tasks. It’s a great all-in-one kit for beginners and hobbyists alike. If you’re doing smaller projects with metal, wood, or other soft materials, this is definitely worth picking up.

I’ve been using the ELK Customizer Engraving Pen for a few weeks now, and overall, I think it’s a solid little tool—especially if you’re just getting into engraving or you’re more of a casual DIYer like me.Right out of the box, it’s super easy to get going. No allen key nonsense (thankfully), and it’s wireless, which I love because I hate being tied down by cords when I’m working on smaller projects. The whole setup feels very beginner-friendly. You get a bunch of bits and tools—definitely more than I expected—so there’s a lot to experiment with.✅ No allen key needed – Changing out the bits is a breeze✅ Wireless & rechargeable – Way more convenient than older engravers I’ve tried✅ Beginner friendly – Perfect if you’re just starting out✅ Works on a ton of materials – I’ve used it on wood, leather, glass, and even a phone case✅ Nice variety of bits – Gives you room to try different engraving styles and techniquesNow, I will say—it’s definitely not a heavy-duty tool. If you’re looking to engrave larger projects or tougher materials for long periods, this probably isn’t your go-to. The battery life is okay, but not amazing. I usually get through one or two small jobs before needing a recharge. Also, it’s not super powerful, so while it’s fine for finer, delicate work, don’t expect it to carve through metal like butter.❌ Battery life is limited – Better suited for short sessions❌ Not super powerful – Struggles a bit with harder materials❌ Meant for small jobs – Great for detail work, but not for big or intensive projectsSo yeah, if you’re doing light engraving on things like gifts, jewelry, small wood pieces, or crafts, it’s a handy little gadget to have around. Just know its limits—it’s more of a precision tool than a workhorse.

Instructions would have been nice and suggestions on which bit to use for projects.

First off, I played with the engraver on all types of surfaces and materials and it seems to work just fine; however, my main interest is on my leather works and crafting. So, I will share with you my thoughts -Feather-light, pen-style grip – At about 3 oz., it rests in your hand like a fine liner, so you can trace tight loops or long flourishes without cramping during a full sheath job.Three variable speeds tuned for leather – Speed 1 lightly sketches guidelines on vegetable-tan without scorching; Speed 2 bites just deep enough for crisp initials; Speed 3 lets you texture thicker saddle leather before dyeing.Carbide and diamond micro-bits included – The kit’s fine 1 mm carbide burr produces clean, hairline cuts that accept antique gels beautifully, while the diamond cone bit is perfect for stippling or background removal. No extra run to the craft store.Cordless freedom at the workbench – A 45-minute USB charge gives me roughly 35-40 minutes of continuous tooling—enough to sign a batch of coasters or outline a full guitar strap without wrestling a power cord.Safety-minded overload shut-off – Leather density varies; if you lean too hard on a thick belt blank, the red LED blinks and the motor pauses, saving both your hand and the project.Travel case holds bits and scrap swatches – The foam slots keep burrs sharp, and there’s room for a few practice scraps so you can test depth before committing to that heirloom journal cover.Bottom line: Whether you’re a hobby saddle-stitcher or a custom holster pro, the ELK pen adds precise, burnout-free engraving to your leather arsenal without bulking up your tool roll.My only negative was the enclosed instructions that talked about a wrench to secure the bits in the chuck - there was wrench provide, and it took a few minutes before realizing that is no need for a wrench since each bit gets secured by apply slight pressure while pushing it down into the chuck, self locking!

Okay, so I got the ELK Customizer Engraving Pen for All Materials, and I’m honestly kinda obsessed! This engraver pen is so easy to hold, and it doesn’t tire out my hand even after messing around with it for a while. It comes with a bunch of bits that let me engrave on pretty much anything—metal, wood, glass, you name it. For such a small tool, it’s got some serious power, and I’ve been having a blast making little designs and personalizing stuff. It comes with a ton of stencils so if you don’t want to freehand, you can use those to make cool designs. Plus, it has a really nice carrying case so when I’m done using it, I can pack it up and bring it with me wherever. The battery lasts forever and charges up fast, which is awesome. Even if you’re new to this, it’s super simple to get the hang of. If you’re into DIY or just wanna make cool custom stuff, this engraving pen is totally worth it.
