About this item

  • EMMA KITES 40D Ripstop Nylon is ultra-light [48 GSM], durable, tear proof, airtight and water resistant [500~1000mm HH]. Further enhanced by PU coating for better UV protection, extended service life and low stretch. A vibrant range of colors on offer, perfect for expressing your style and demands of various creative projects, from kites, windsocks, inflatables, flags to stuff sacks, bags, pack covers, extending to tarps, hammocks, and more.
  • 【TEAR-PROOF】Reinforced double threads spread across the fabric to form strong "Ripstop" grids that give fabrics significantly increased tear resistance and tensile strength. This exceptional advantage ensures that kites continue performing optimally, even after enduring multiple hard impacts from repeated rough landings. Create additional barriers for bags and covers to hold up against wood or thorn pokes, and rock rubbings, ideal for the demands of outdoor use.
  • 【WATER RESISTANT】40D Ripstop Nylon is PU-coated for modest water resistance of 500~1000mm HH. It withstands daily encounters with water, including splashes, light showers, drizzle, and spray. The material prevents water from penetrating the surface, keeping the inside dry, and supports quick-drying after soaking or being drenched.
  • 【WEIGHT SAVING】A lightweight fabric of 1.4 oz per yd² [48 GSM], 40D ripstop nylon is made from high-tenacity nylon that yields high strength. We can take advantage of this lightweight material to create gear (stuff sacks, bags, tarps, and ponchos) where weight savings are important, especilally for outdoor use and portability. Its lightweight nature allows kite sails and inflatables to maintain taut, full airfoil shapes in varying winds. optimizing performance.
  • 【"Crisp" Hand Feel】Due to precisely applied PU coating, the Ripstop Nylon features a "crisp" hand feel, making it one of the most ideal materials for windswept applications, such as kites, flags, windsocks, inflatables, and kayak sails.
  • Fabrics on offer are【Precut Pieces】in specific linear yards. Most colors are available in 1-yard and 3-yard precut pieces. Folded, and in individual packages. 【Maintenance】Use the lowest heat for ironing nylon <248°F / 120°C; Hand wash the fabric in cold or lukewarm water. Softly brush it to remove stains. Detergent is not recommended. Use a mild detergent when it is a must. Line dry fabrics in the shade, away from direct sunlight. Dry fabric before storage.

I bought this fabric to make a signal panel similar to a military VS-17 signal panel. The finished panel is a little under 36X60 , has 6 peek-a-boo tie down points, and is hemmed all the way around for durability. The finished project can be used as a wind break, ground cloth, sun shelter, emergency signal device , or a way point marker. This panel weighs almost nothing and takes up little space in may backpack. The price was right and was delivered promptly.

This was great kite material to use for an art project, where I needed to do some sewing. Worked great and the material reminds me of what you'd find a windsock to be made from.

It was the exact material I was looking for. It was a little thinner than I excepted but I still loved it. Works perfect for horse tail bags.

After discovering that Louisiana allows hunters to wear blaze pink for safety as opposed to blaze orange, I went in search of blaze pink hunting apparel. After being unable to find many items for sale, I decided to make my own. This fabric is a good pic for blaze pink - it's a hot neon color that will show up good in the woods. Unfortunately, it is thin and a bit sheer, so I added a liner to my vest to solve that problem. The other thing I don't like is that the fabric is a bit shiny and noisy. It makes noise when I move, kind of like a plastic bag. I'm still looking for another fabric that to possibly make another. So, it is not ideal for what I bought it for, but it was definitely not a waste of time or money. I'll just keep hunting for another hot pink fabric that is a bit thicker and more quiet. In the meantime, I think my vest will do nicely. It was inexpensive and easy to cut and sew. And I think it came out pretty cute!!

I can't speak to how well this material works for kites and the like, but it makes wonderful banner material, which is what I purchased it for. It's very easy to cut it to the desired size with a rotary cutter, stitch it with a sewing machine, and paint on it with acrylic paint. The paint dries nicely on the surface and does not bleed through to the back, and the material is flexible enough so that the paint on the surface folds with the fabric and does not crack or peel off. I stitched the cut edges with a zigzag stitch to prevent minor raveling of the material; you don't need to do more than that, which is nice. I also stitched small round circles on the corners, cut out the inside of the circles, and used it with a rope to tie it up. It is lightweight, and the next banners I make will have a dowel rod sleeve on the top to keep the banner fairly straight while it's hanging inside of a pop-up canopy. If you're looking for a good material that will easily accept acrylic paint to use for homemade banners, this is an excellent solution.
