Flame retardant and flame resistant, this protective cover for induction cooktops is as described. The size is an ideal fit for my 20" x 36" cooktop, with rounded rather than square corners. Although I didn't see this anywhere in the description, it appears that the protective cover is reversible-- it looks identical on both sides. With two hook eyelets on one edge for hanging, the cover is waterproof and easy to wipe clean. I did not find that it is thick or padded; however, I wouldn't expect it to be and still maintain its fire retardant abilities.Frequently, I'm worried about using my cooktop surface for things other than cooking (e.g., staging food, placing items on top of it, etc.) but have been too concerned about scratching the ceramic glass surface. This cover by Empava, solves that problem. I'm thrilled that it's available in my cooktop size, and I did not notice any imperfections in the quality of its manufacture. I hate to admit that I was among the original purchasers of an induction cooktop, as it cost me close to $5,000 brand new. Thus, I'm glad to finally find a cover that works as described and prevents surface scratches to help increase the longevity of my investment. At this time, I can find no fault in this item.Recommended.

Matches the Empava induction cooktop that I got recently and keeps it safe and covered until you're ready to use the cooktop again.I don't have a lot of space, so this has been helpful in keeping the cooktop as scratch free as possible.

So....when I received and opened this I thought I was going to take a star away just for the edges. The edge trim looks like regular nylon, I thought for sure it would get to hot and melt. I was wrong. If you're reading this you already know induction stove tops are amazing. I wanted a mat to protect the glass. This works perfectly. It heats up where the pot touches it, but doesn't radiate any further to the material around it. And not hot enough to damage the mat. As soon as pulled the boiling water off the mat, I was able to touch the mat where the pot was. This works great.

This is a textured silicone map designed exclusively to protect 26" induction cooktops during non-use. I already have an Empava 36" cooktop and this matches perfectly. The edges are reinforced with a cleanly stitched band. No flaws.Unfortunately, my kitchen remodel is not finished, the cooktop not installed, and thus I cannot do a practical test yet. I do like the design and it can easily be rolled up and stoved away if not needed.Curiously, I could not find this item listed on the Empava website, so maybe it is a new item.
