Purchased as “used” in opened box, but everything was there. The instructions weren’t the best, but everything to convert to propane was clearly labeled and packaged. It took me less than an hour to remove our old leaky cooktop and replace it with this one. I don’t think the individual burner high to low range is as wide as I would like it to be, but it is acceptable. It’s easy to use and easy to clean. We are definitely pleased with our purchase.

This cooktop is very light, and as a result, it tends to flex a bit. (Maybe that is why the ones with the glass top shatter sometimes... Hmmm...It looks nice, but it is poorly designed. Some minor changes could make it so much better...First, the gas connection is a size larger than standard, although they do give you an adapter. The part of the stove the gas screws onto is plastic, though, and I doubt it will last a lifetime (I have had my old cooktop 35 years... still works, unfortunately it is bisque colored and way out of style) I doubt this one will last 10 years.Second, the control knobs for the burners are really cheap plastic made to look like a stainless color, but they are very tacky and add to the "cheap" feel. If only the valves actually worked well! Unfortunately, the valves for each burner have only these settings: Off, Light, Medium high, and Medium Low. They do not have a Low setting, nor a high setting. At the "high" position, indeed, the flame is very slightly larger than the "low" setting. But the range is awful. As it happens, you can *carefully* move the knob past the "high" setting (headed towards "off") and then you can control the flame to a much smaller size, but rather than give you the 20 degrees of rotation (like between the "high" and "low" settings that make almost no difference), you get about 5 degrees of rotation to take you between "high" and "off". By positioning the knob carefully you can get finer control of the flame. But it is just a really, really, bad design. Now, oddly, this stove comes with a set of installed jets, plus a set of LP gas jets, plus - yet another set of NGas jets. By carefully mixing and matching the 15 jets, I managed to get the burners to operate much better, where "high" was actually high, but alas, low was, well, medium, and to get low I still have to use the narrow range between "high" and "off" to get an actual "low".Now one of the burners is a really small burner. And it is right in front. I have no idea what I might use it for. It is too small to heat a pan of water. I have no idea what the purpose is. Whoever designed this stove has apparently never actually cooked much on a gas stove. Sad.Finally - safety features. Well, the thermocouples work. It takes them a second to register the flame, especially on the huge burner in the middle, and I would rather not have them at all. My old cooktop does not have them and I never left the gas on in 35 years...

I know the saying "you get what you pay for". But even if you get something of lower value, you should expect it to work. When I received the cooktop, the very first thing I noticed was the very cheap looking rubber that goes under the knobs. This is not visible in any of the pictures I saw. It really make the entire cooktop look very cheap. After going through the incomplete and confusing instructions to install the cooktop (no mention of the underside brackets), we began testing each burner. The middle burner didn't fire up, and instead, let off a major smell of gas with a burst of a flame. Not sure how to explain it. I'd let it clear the gas, try again, and just this single large burst of a flame would ignite, again smelling like a bunch of gas. I contacted Empava and they were very courteous with their support. They have sent me a replacement igniter but I have yet to install it, since I have to disassemble the burner unit and clear out all of my cabinets underneath since I have to gain access to the underside of the cooktop. Very inconvenient. For this reason I've given it 3 stars (my wife wanted me to give it 2). I had purchased a Frigidaire FFGC3612TS 36" Gas Cooktop Stainless Steel on Amazon that I needed to return that was in the same price range but alot better looking.Thankfully I purchased the 5 year protection plan as well since I have no clue how long this Empava cooktop will last.EDIT 1/29/2020I tried installing the replacement igniter today. You basically have to remove all the grates and knobs, remove all the screws near the igniters, and then you should be able to lift the top easily. Well, I removed everything, but the top does not come off. I've been wiggling to the left, to the right, towards the wall, towards me, and the top does not give. Now I have a large gap between the screw hole and where the screw screws into, and the screws are only 1/4 inch. Now it's gonna be a pain in the rear end just to screw everything back together. I contacted customer support again, but intend to try and screw everything back together without replacing the igniter. Changing rating to 1 star.Update 2/6/2020The vendor has sent the wrong igniter twice. Waiting on the correct igniter. Have been without a stove for close to two weeks since I've left it disassembled because it was very difficult to take apart.Update 2/12/2020The vendor sent 6 different igniters on their 3rd attempt. The correct one was included. Installing the igniter was easy. Reassembling the cook top to the base was difficult. I sliced my fingertips trying to pry open the lip of the top piece so it can fit around the edges of the base. Those edges are sharp. If you want to go through this pain of fixing it yourself, I'd recommend gloves. I screwed everything down and the cooktop now works. To reiterate, a customer should not have to go through this with a new purchase. While I appreciate the DIY aspect of fixing this cooktop, it's not worth it. Not sure how long this cooktop will last. I doubt it'll last 30+ years like the old porcelain cooktop I replaced. I purchased the SquareTrade insurance option for 5 years thankfully. If anything goes wrong, I'll request a replacement and refuse to attempt to fix this again.

I previously had a GE Profile smooth top electric cooktop for more than 14 years. The only problem I ever had with it was one burner stopped working and I ordered a new element which was easy to install. Recently another burner was not working properly and since the cook top was marred by years of heavy use, I decided to get a new one. I got the Profile model because while it was more money, the warranty was longer than the similar non Profile model and I thought it was a better value with the warranty. They are very similar, but the Profile has a child lock included. The new cooktop has better sized burners than my old GE Profile. The burner sizes are in different places than the old one, and I like this new placement better. I checked everywhere for the best price and Amazon beat everyone. I was amazed that the cooktop arrived 3 days after I ordered it. It is very easily installed and unlike my old cooktop, this has a foam gasket around the edge so when I let something boil over, it does not run under the cooktop.

I was worried about the bad reviews on this cooktop, but I am limited as to what cooktops can fit into my countertop, so I decided to take a chance with this one. I am so glad that I did. I find that it works great, very responsive and it is easy to clean. I would recommend this to anyone.
