I put a couple of bags of ice in with my drinks and they stayed lovely and cold for 5 days.

Die Box war 2x in Gebrauch. Bei der zweiten Nutzung war diese nur mit ein paar Kühlakkus befüllt. Durch einen leichten Stoß an eine Tür (wie bei vorsichtigem Klopfen an eine Tür) ist eine Ecke des Deckels gerissen. Die Beschreibung (DURABILITY: Features a hardbody shell with stainless steel hardware, that is almost indestructible. Engel’s rugged drybox coolers are built to last in the harshest conditions.) ist hier mehr als gelogen. Dass eine Kunststoffkühlbox nicht dieser Beschreibung entsprechen kann ist klar, jedoch habe ich einiges mehr als das erwartet. Dem Bild kann entnommen werden, dass der Kunststoff nicht eingedellt wurde, somit kann es kein schwerer Stoß sein.Der Händler (Engel) wurde kontaktiert und nach erstem Abblocken auf das deutsche Gewährleistungsrecht hingewiesen. Dieser blockt weiterhin ab und verweist auf seine Garantie.

My railroader wife is legit in love with this thing. Ever since she got it, she empties it out when she arrives home and remembers to put the ice packs back in the freezer- no easy task for ADHD! Die Kühlbox ist gut, tut was sie soll und bietet viel Innenraum für die Maße. Schwachstelle sind die Scharniere, die den aufgeklappten Deckel halten. Einmal nicht aufgepaßt, reicht schon fast das Eigengewicht des Deckels für einen Bruch. Es gibt zwar Ersatzscharniere zu kaufen, jedoch nur aus Amerika zu ein paar Dollar Materialkosten, aber fast 30 Dollar Versandkosten nach Deutschland. Leider war auch keine andere gute Kühlbox unter 120 Euro zu finden, die keine solche Schwachstelle hat, entweder an solchen wie beschriebenen Scharnieren oder am Scharnier des Tragebügels, was die andere typische Kaputtstelle ist. Also, behalt ich die Engel und hoffe, sie hat das, wie sie heißt: einen Engel.

This is the second Engel cooler I’ve bought my son. The first took years of fishing abuse and sun exposure in the Florida sun. Everyday to the fishing pier to fish. Always kept things dry when he needed dry storage or cold when used as a cooler and also as a seat when needed. After 6 years we did replace the hinges, but he still uses that cooler to date. That was over 10 years ago. Now he’s 21 and I bought him a new for Christmas as a surprise and he was thrilled. So worth the money!! I bought him the orange color this time. It’s definitely construction color orange, but he loves it and says no one could every mistake his cooler for theirs! :)

I got this because I wanted a medium size cooler. I admit, I am a form of function guy. I like the look, design and size of the cooler. I wanted something that wasn’t too heavy. This does get heavy when it’s full of beer and ice, buts it’s manageable. The cooler is not well insulated and does not keep stuff cold very well. If you are camping you will be lucky to get 2 days of ice retention. The lid seems somewhat flimsy when opened. The handle seems somewhat flimsy - I wouldn’t trust it with a heavy load. It’s a good cooler for picnics and day trips.

I take this to use everyday at work. This is an honest review for people like me who want to use this as a cooler. I will try to be as factual as possible. I bought it for a 3 day canoe trip. I didn't expect this cooler to hold ice for 3 days, but I wanted the water tight seal. I have no doubt this cooler/drybox works fantastic as a dry box or lunch box. But as a cooler it's very OK. I placed four 9"x10" freezer packs inside of it. Basically it filled the cooler. After an hour or so, I touched the cooler on the outside and felt that it was very cold. I picked it up and the floor it was sitting on was cold as well. Not good because the cold was getting through the insulation. I left it overnight in my dining room (4pm - 10am). When I woke up I checked the cooler and the freezer packs were liquid. This was in winter so my house was 68-70 degrees. The quality is still good and overall I really like it, but to call it a cooler is a bit of a stretch.I lined the dry box with 1" styrofoam and repeated my experiment... the freezer packs are still half frozen after 29hrs.Despite it's lack of insulation, I feel its a good, quality product.
