  • For carburetor or throttle body gasoline injection engines, the intake manifold refers to the intake pipe from the carburetor or throttle body to the cylinder head intake port. Its role is to distribute the air mixture from the carburetor or throttle body to the air intake of each cylinder. For an intake fuel injection engine or diesel engine, the intake manifold distributes clean air only to the intake of each cylinder. The intake manifold must do its best to evenly distribute air, fuel mixture, or clean air to each cylinder. In view of this, the length of the gas channels in the intake manifold should be as equal as possible. In order to reduce airflow resistance and improve intake capacity, the inner wall of the intake manifold should be smooth.
  • The function of the intake manifold is to distribute the combustible mixture provided by the carburetor to each cylinder. The role of the exhaust manifold is to collect the exhaust gas from each cylinder and send it to the exhaust pipe and muffler, and then discharge it into the atmosphere.

What I really disliked is the fact that there are no installation instructions which means I missed two screws to install on the bottom of the front list of the intake. This attached the aluminum to the plastic. Also, back left of the intake has a nozzle that should be blank per The originally equipment. This means the cheap cap and clamp that was on there blew off after warming the truck up so I had to buy new cap since I couldn’t find that one installed a worm clamp on it. It was good for about 65 miles, and it blew off, leaving me stranded on side of the road. I had to borrow my wife’s car and go get another cap worm clamp tools antifreeze to reattach that clamp and cap so I can make it back home. It’s kind of a poor design it should’ve been threaded where a plug could be installed or at least on that nozzle Have the ridge rib. We will cut it at the end of it so after installing a cap and clamp it won’t blow off so easy. I might have to buy another one and go through the whole mess again, and hopefully find a better design one !
