I’m very happy to finally find a roof rack made for my Equinox EV. However, I would have rated this a three except that the company sent me a replacement end cap very promptly. The locking covers are poorly designed. While installation is mostly simple, removing these covers is difficult because they fit into the main part of the cover both on the top and the side opposite the lock. So one must force the plastic loose. Also, the hex key provided to tighten the unit in place is soft metal. I had to use my 3/16” key after the provided key stripped.

I got these roof rack cross bars for my son and his 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV as he wanted the ability to haul some larger items on top of his car when needed. He mainly wanted to put a couple of surf boards on top for his trips to Panama City Beach and these cross bars make it easy to haul them to the beach and still have room in his car for friends and their stuff. They were very easy to install and at first I thought they would use the eight screw holes that are available on his roof rails but these do not use those screw holes and actually just clamp down on the factory rails. I think it's actually a better design because you can lock them down wherever you want, so you don’t have to install them in just one spot. I also like the included locking feature as it keeps them or the items on them from being stolen, nice! We followed the simple install video on YT, the link is provided in the manual instructions, so it's easy to find online. Once installed, we were actually able to put two surfboards and a skim board on top and ratchet them down, perfect! He said it did affect his range a little, but only about 20 miles less range from what he could tell. Not a big deal at all considering how much room it frees up inside his car, especially when he's taking three friends with him! Overall, these rails are very strong and built of high quality aluminum, great locking rails, tailored fit to his car, aerodynamic to help EV range, noise free on the highway, 220 lbs. capacity (more than most rails out there), and they can easily hold just about anything you throw up there including a canoe, surfboards, or camping gear, 5 Stars!

The ERKUL roof rack for the Chevy Bolt EUV is mounted via screws to the roof rails already installed on the vehicle. The rack seems to be designed for a different car with clamp-type mounting for roof rails that are open (there is space between the roof of the car and the bottom of the rail). The roof rails on the Chevy Bolt are closed (there is no space between the roof of the car and any part of the rail), so the manufacturer included 4 interface brackets that are bolted to the roof rack and to the roof rails. The structural load path that goes from the roof rails to the interface bracket and then to the roof rack hardware are all metal (except for rubber gasket to minimize scratching the roof rack), so the functionality does not concern me so much. However, the rack feels a bit kludgy to me and does not look like it was designed for the car… A single part could have replaced a lot of unnecessary parts and make this product look a lot better. I have taken the roof racks off, and I plan to use it only when necessary to carry something large on top.
