The 242044020 Refrigerator Defrost Heater heats the refrigerator’s cooling element to prevent it from freezing. It works with the defrost timer to heat the element at regular intervals. A worn or broken defrost element may cause the refrigerator’s cooling element to freeze. You might need to replace the defrost heater in your refrigerator if:
- Your refrigerator or freezer is too warm
- Your freezer will not defrost
- Frost has built up on the freezer coils
