I’m so glad I found these glasses. I bought them for my mother, who has limited vision due to a retinal occlusion. She has prescription glasses and has tried reading glasses. Those provide minimal assistance, so she has to use a magnifying glass. She is so excited about these glasses: she can now read the microwave panel, the stove panel. At the store she was reading product labels, which she hasn’t been able to do in years. We are getting another pair. Definitely worth the price.

These have proved to be less useful than I had hoped. The field of view and depth of focus are restricted more than I would like. They cannot be used with other (prescription) glasses and as a result, my astigmatism causes the images to be almost unusably distorted. The construction is very good. The independent focus controls on the two sides make it somewhat difficult to get both eyes into focus. I plan to talk with my optician and see if anastigmatic contact lenses will help make these glasses more useful. Do not pay full retail price for these glasses! I bought mine at about 50% off the retail price. They are not worth more than this!

I got these for very close work (eyelash extensions) and they are better than my previous MagSpecs, but I am far sighted, so the adjustment dials were good - I have them at the extreme farthest adjustment. Because of my astigmatism, I had to put an old pair of glasses under them, and they really do look crazy, but I am glad to have them. Soon i will upgrade, but for now, they are doing the job well.

Most folks who need these already have a prescription. Really does not do the job. I bought it for my 86 year old mother and she cannot use it. My younger spouse may use it for sewing work, will let you know.

My first impression of these glasses is that they definitely magnify. This particular pair of glasses is meant for near-field viewing, i.e., close work. For distance viewing (concerts, etc.), you need different glasses. The first application I had for them was in repairing a pair of reading glasses. Using my other pair of reading glasses was not quite good enough to work with the tiny screws. These made the repair possible. They are not super magnifiers; just enough. One thing you need to understand about them is that the range of focus is very small. That is the downside of having a large-aperture, high-magnification lens. You have the same problem with photographic lenses; the larger the aperture, the shorter the depth of field.I didn't find this to be a large problem, though. It just meant that I had to move my head until it was at the correct distance for best focus. If you wish to work a little closer or farther from the job, refocus the lenses for that distance. It's very easy to do.The alternative is to somehow shrink the effective aperture, but this would greatly reduce the amount of light that gets to your eyes. That is not a good idea. More light is definitely better; getting your head to the correct distance is no problem.A very good feature about these is that you can focus the left and right lenses independently of each other. This allows you to correct for differences in your eyes.I have not yet had the opportunity to use these in this way, but I believe they will be very helpful in soldering tiny surface-mount parts when repairing electronic gear or in working with tiny parts to construct a model. I'll try to remember to update my review when I do have to use them for such a task.Yes, they are dorky looking, but they are a godsend for close work.
