This is a nice tester which seems to work as expected. I’ve used for a few projects do far and it hasn’t let me down yet. You will need to provide 2 of your own 9 volt batteries for this to work, since they are unfortunately not included nor is this rechargeable which I would prefer. Overall, while the appearance needs a bit more quality control, it works as intended so I would recommend.

This little kit comes with the tester which has two parts. The sender and the receiver. Each uses 1 9V battery in each piece so 2 total. It also comes with A cat 5 line for testing, a telephone line for testing, earbuds and a carry pouch! So this tester has the ability like most to test a phone line (RJ11) and a cat cable (RJ45) to make sure they are wired correctly and no shorts. however it adds a scanning function in it so you can trace wires in a multiple wire area such as switches and server rooms. All you have to do is hook the sending unit to one end of the line and then use the receiver and probe to trace and follow the wire to its output side. With the included earbuds, you can hear the beeps even in a noisy server room. It also comes with a little led light on top of the receiver for convenience but honestly doesn't light up much. it is pretty much like those free keychain lights that people hand out. Good in a pinch but beyond that, pretty useless. All in all this is a great tester and can do more than your standard cheap line tester
