We purchased this item as a warehouse deal, so that might be why, but it clicks loudly when operated. If you turn the handle to open the door, the mechanism inside makes a loud snapping sound, each time. It was after the 30 days when installed and therefore beyond the return window. We have since uninstalled it, since it is so loud and disrupts sleep.
