Bad experience with this product. When I originally ordered this heater I was pretty optimistic, after all I just had spent $400 dollars on a heater (you get what you pay for, well most of the time). I burned diesel and not kerosene. Easy set up out of the box, but poorly burns diesel. The first heater would constantly not fire and blow smoke, spit out diesel. When it did get fired the cone did not get hot enough to burn efficiently (even after adjusting fuel pressure). The regulator screw broke off, so I wanted a replacement.Replacement received, this time I was determined to get it burning hot. My replacement fired more on start but still I'd say 40% of the time would not fire and blow smoke, or would blow smoke for 5 seconds and fire. Same as the first heater I ordered, it would not burn hot enough and there for leave my shop smelling like diesel and not able to even work in.I figured maybe it was the diesel I was burning? No. My uncle has a kerosene heater (old one) and it burns just fine.I DO NOT recommend this product if you're burning diesel. The reasoning for 2 stars is it probably burns kerosene hot enough, there for making a great heater. Look else where.

This thing warms up my shop quickly. The 175K size might be overkill for a relatively small (30X30) building in southern California where it doesn't get bitter cold. But I like overkill. It only needs to run a short time to get it warmed up. A couple of gripes: sometimes it doesn't fire quickly and belches out a lot of diesel smoke. Maybe I need to adjust the fuel pressure. And the cord hanger pieces that came with it were junk, the plastic broke as I was trying to screw them onto the handle. No big deal, I don't need the cord hanger anyhow.

bought this heater as a replacement for another heater that i ordered off amazon that continuously kept showing up damaged, truthfully the heater was great but the packaging left a little more to be desired the casing of the heater seemed to be crushed in the rear over the fan blades and after tinkering with it for a lil i was able to get the blades bent back and the case hammered out to clear them

Great heater! Warms up my 32' x 40' garage with a 10' celing from 22 deg to 65 deg F in about 30 min! Its a bit noisy but cant complain when running this industrial quality machine! Puts off a little smoke poof when it starts, so I point it out the garage door for the first 60 sec until it's glowing hot then spin it around inside and close up shop. This is a direct fired heater so if you ran it long enough closed up in a garage youll have to worry about combustion byproducts building up.. so be safe where and how you use it. I like to keep mine running for a good bit instead of letting the thermostat cycle to help reduce the smell in the garage and I've adjusted the fuel pressure up a tad from factory to get the cone glowing a bit better. That helps If you start to notice a touch of smokeyness... the redder your front cone the more complete the combustion, the less smell.I am running number 1 home heating oil in my unit (500 ppm sulfer) and works great. It draws between 350 and 375 watts of electricity while it's running. Shipped to me fast and in good shape all the way to fairbanks alaska!

So far so good. Easy to assemble and fired up instantly with very little smell what so ever. Filled it up with #2 dyed diesel right out of my skid tank and it worked great no adjustments needed!! We bought this for use in our new house during construction as it has no heat installed yet. Later I will use as heat in shop area. It's nice to be able to use the diesel fuel as it is much cheaper as k-1 clear kerosene.
