Wow, am I impressed with this try-it box. First, I'm glad Faber-Castell makes this kit, otherwise I never would have tried their watercolor pencils (a larger set of just the pencils, very expensive). I am getting back into art after many years, and wanted to start by experimenting with media I'd never used before. The pencils are high quality, along with the markers - the color is amazingly rich, and the pencil marks completely dissolve under water. I compared these with some expensive Staedler watercolor pencils I bought years ago, and these are head and shoulders above those. The markers are also high quality, the ink is very rich and goes a long way when using them as a wash. The included water brush is very nice as well, the brush itself stays together and doesn't fray like other cheaper water brushes I've used.Overall - this set is worth the money, the materials included are high quality and well made, and I hope to have tons of fun trying everything out!

I’d call this a good practice set. There are plenty of pieces to work with on technique. I do admit that watercolor pencils are a nice way to get some of the detailing you want in a watercolor painting without the wet layers. It also gives you a smoother look on cheaper paper because you don’t need as much moisture. And it is less messy which makes for practice and things like paint journaling a simpler task.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed using this set of watercolor pencils and markers it was very different than what I have used before. The colors are bright and dry nicely.

This is a great set for testing out water colors with different supplies. The drawings of the color pencils can be altered with the water brush. The dark markers are water based and can be used for drawings and modified with water. It is a good set for experimenting with different tools.

I got this little box on sale. I wanted to try a number of things and so I finally got them. I love the packagaging and everything they describe is just over the top. I film it to let others know about these try out boxes. Faber-Castell is my favorite legacy brand.

My 7 year old loves to draw and paint. We got her these to try out and she likes that they're pencils you can dip in water. she's tried pastels, water colors, oils, crayons, markers, different paints, and this is one of the few things she hasn't tried yet. It's worth the try.

My husband is a dedicated oil painter who has long wanted to try his hand at watercolors. This is a great beginner set for someone who wants to dip their toes in before investing in something more comprehensive. The color palette is somewhat limited, but the two brush-tipped markers can be used to add depth and extend the range. In addition to six wet watercolor pencils, there are the two markers (grey and black), a small brush and a collapsible water cup. That last item making the set very portable, if you opt to paint "en plein air." As expected with products from Faber-Castell, a well-known/respected, brand, the paints are good quality - they're vibrant and don't bleed through the page. Although my husband is experiencing challenges shifting to the unforgiving nature of watercolor painting, he appreciates having this small set to experiment with.

I am very familiar with the Faber-Castell brand, and it was the go-to for all art products when I was growing up, so I was happy to see that they have expanded into boxes like these that make it easy for someone to get back into creative pursuits without having to invest a ton. I always wanted watercolor pencils like this back in the 90's and I still enjoy drawing so I got this set to give it a go. The little collapsible cup is a perfect idea so these don't take up much space at all and the whole kit can fit into a little travel case. The packaging is beautifully done, especially the little old-timey 'newspaper' story that explains the company's commitment to sustainability. I feel that this would make a great gift as well.
