The distributor, also known as a "brush distributor", has the function of distributing the spark to the spark plugs on the cylinders, through the rotation of the distributor shaft. They are devices that receive the high voltage from the coil through the central terminal of the cap and as they rotate distribute it to the metal inserts in the cap and thus to the spark plugs.
